To effectively implement Project 6, "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development," the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City has invested in two sets of musical instruments to support the Khmer ethnic minority in Can Tho City: one percussion ensemble (Plêng Pưnpet - a five-tone orchestra) and one string ensemble (Plêng Kh'xe), with a budget of nearly 260 million VND from the cultural development fund. The Can Tho City Buddhist Monks' Solidarity Association manages and operates these two ensembles, maximizing their effectiveness in serving the Khmer ethnic minority in the city and fulfilling the purpose and significance of the national target program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority areas of the city.
The donation of these two sets of traditional musical instruments is of great significance to the Patriotic Buddhist Monks' Solidarity Association of the city in general and the Khmer ethnic community in particular, contributing to the preservation and conservation of the traditional cultural values of the Khmer people in Can Tho .
