Awarding ceremony of the writing contest "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation"

30 outstanding works won prizes in the fourth writing contest "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation" were awarded, including: 3 A prizes, 6 B prizes, 9 C prizes and 12 Encouragement prizes.

On the evening of May 15, in Hanoi, under the direction of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, the People's Army Newspaper in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association , the Army Publishing House and the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank organized the summary and award ceremony of the 4th Writing Contest "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation" (2024-2025) and launched the 5th writing contest (2025-2026).

The program was attended by former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia; Party Central Committee Secretary, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet; Party Central Committee member, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense , Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong.

Also attending were representatives of leaders of a number of ministries, departments, branches and central agencies.

Speaking at the program, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the competition's steering committee, emphasized that following the success of previous competitions, the 4th writing competition "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation" continued to increase in both quantity and quality and received special attention and positive response from journalists nationwide, with more diverse participants.

With more than 500 entries from more than 50 press agencies, many entries have a new, more profound approach, with content that ensures both combativeness, theory, and education, and a more vivid way of conveying messages, contributing to enhancing persuasiveness and positively impacting readers' trust in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

According to Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, in addition to many monographs by experts and scientists that delve into the fundamental principles of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought, the contest also featured many journalistic works with a strong, sharp spirit of "pen war", timely criticism, and fierce struggle against distorted arguments and acts of sabotage by hostile, reactionary, and opportunistic political forces.

Many works have criticized the manifestations of degradation in political ideology, morality, lifestyle, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" among a number of cadres and party members.

“The strong participation of central and local press agencies; the enthusiastic and responsible participation of experts, scientists and journalists in the contest to protect the Party's ideological foundation is vivid evidence affirming the noble purpose and meaning of the contest,” Lieutenant General Truong Thien To affirmed.

Congratulating the authors and groups of authors who won prizes in the fourth contest, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To emphasized that the excellent works selected by the Organizing Committee to award prizes and honor on this occasion are the crystallization of enthusiasm, intelligence, courage and demonstrate the exploration, creative work with sharp political thinking and high responsibility of the authors and groups of authors towards the task of protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

Based on the results of 4 years of organizing the contest, the Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army requested the People's Army Newspaper to continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to deploy and organize the 5th contest (2025-2026) well.

Lieutenant General Truong Thien To suggested that experts, scientists, journalists and press agencies nationwide continue to accompany, respond to and participate in the contest, thereby continuing to affirm the pioneering mission of the press, especially the military press, in propaganda work, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints.

At the program, 30 outstanding works that won prizes in the fourth contest were awarded, including: 3 A prizes, 6 B prizes, 9 C prizes and 12 Encouragement prizes.


In addition, the Organizing Committee also decided to reward 3 press agencies with many high-quality works participating in the contest.

In the central press sector, the A prize went to the work " Respecting integrity, knowing how to maintain face and prestige before the people is the political responsibility of current cadres and party members " by Professor, Doctor Nguyen Trong Chuan, Vice President of the Vietnam Philosophy Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Philosophical Research.

In the magazine sector, the A prize was awarded to Colonel Nguyen Manh Tuan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the National Defense Magazine, with the work " Personnel work for party congresses at all levels - a particularly important task, deciding the strength of the Party and the future development of the country. "

The series of 5 articles " Returning to the light " by the group of authors Tran Thu Hang and Sam Hong Phuc, reporters of Dien Bien Phu Newspaper, won the A prize in the local newspaper category.

On this occasion, Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest launched the 5th contest.

Contestants are Vietnamese citizens, Vietnamese people living abroad, and foreigners studying and working in Vietnam. Eligible works are works published in print and electronic newspapers of press agencies nationwide that are licensed to operate by the State press management agency during the period from March 15, 2025 to March 10, 2026.


The closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 5th Competition is expected to be held on the occasion of the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 2026)./.
