Empowering women
As part of Project 8 on implementing gender equality and addressing pressing issues for women and children, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Women's Union has organized more than 30 training courses for commune-level officials since the beginning of the year. These courses focus on equipping participants with legal knowledge on gender equality, skills in integrating gender perspectives into the development and implementation of local policies and plans, and sharing effective communication models and experiences.
In addition to training courses, the Women's Union at all levels promotes awareness through various creative and accessible methods such as mobile communication, theatrical performances, club activities, and community communication groups. This helps people, women, and children easily access knowledge about gender equality, healthcare, and the prevention and control of domestic violence, contributing to raising awareness and encouraging active community participation.
Project 8 aims to empower women and children through a series of practical activities. To date, the province has established and is operating 587 community communication groups, 232 community trust points, and 111 "Leaders of Change" clubs.
In addition, the Women's Union at all levels organized 39 training courses on monitoring and evaluating gender equality, supported 21 out of 31 livelihood group models, cooperatives, and associations owned or co-owned by women in applying Industry 4.0 technology in production and market connection. They also organized 217 policy dialogues at the commune and village/hamlet levels, and 100 training courses to enhance capacity in gender mainstreaming and policy dialogue at the commune and village/hamlet levels.
Enhancing the capacity of grassroots officials.
Through these models, the program has helped women enhance their leadership capabilities and confidently participate in the community. When women's practical issues are addressed and resolved step by step, and women are empowered and given opportunities for development, they are gradually asserting their roles and positions not only in the family but also in social life, contributing to building happy families, progressive communities, and sustainable development.
