Young people use photo editing software to restore old photos, recovering details, clarifying faces and colors, and printing them as new photos to give to their families. Each restored photo is not just a technical product but also contains the deep respect and gratitude of the younger generation towards the mothers who sacrificed their beloved children for the country.
According to the Ca Mau Provincial Youth Union, the photo restoration activity was carried out completely free of charge, with the participation of many union members skilled in information technology and graphic design. Besides restoring the photos, the union members also visited and listened to stories about the lives and sacrifices of the mothers, thereby gaining a better understanding of the value of peace today.

Ms. Vo Tuyet Ngan, Secretary of the Youth Union of Ca Mau Community College, said: "Currently, the number of photos needing restoration is very large, and without an effective solution, it will take a lot of time. Therefore, a solution is needed, from planning the implementation, methods of information gathering and data collection, restoration work, to communicating with the families of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and martyrs to obtain the most complete photos. The implementation process must be managed and created into a database. This is not an easy task; it requires determination and high responsibility. We are currently discussing photo restoration software with Viettel to agree on solutions and methods for the best results. The initial results are very promising. Many families of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and martyrs have expressed joy and emotion upon receiving clear photos. These are not only family mementos but also a part of history preserved for future generations. We will strive and make every effort to restore them." "The best photos were taken, and the production time was shortened. This is also our way of showing gratitude to the previous generation, especially to the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers."
Ms. Vo Tuyet Ngan, Secretary of the Youth Union of Ca Mau Community College, said that one photo required a lot of editing.
Currently, Ca Mau has 65 youth volunteer teams supporting the restoration of photos of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and martyrs, with 386 members. Each commune and ward has 5-7 members, including one commune police officer to assist in verifying and managing population data. This meaningful activity contributes to educating the younger generation about revolutionary traditions; fostering pride and a greater awareness of their responsibility in building and protecting their homeland.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Duy, Deputy Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Youth Union, said: “The Provincial Youth Union has organized training on how to use technology applications for the youth volunteer team supporting the restoration of documentary photos of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and martyrs in the province. Many Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and martyrs no longer have photos due to the war, so the restoration work mainly relies on descriptions and stories from relatives. Some photos require many revisions to be completed, but we are not discouraged. The youth volunteers in the restoration teams go to each house and spend a lot of time talking and gathering information from the relatives of the martyrs and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers to get the most accurate portrait photo that the family wants.”
The restoration of photos of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and martyrs by the Youth Union of Ca Mau province is a testament to the creativity, responsibility, and gratitude of today's youth. Through simple yet practical actions, young people are contributing to preserving historical memories and continuing the fine traditions of the Vietnamese nation.
