Paying tribute to the late playwright Tran Huu Trang

A tribute and exchange event honoring the late playwright Tran Huu Trang and succeeding generations of artists took place on the evening of October 20th at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural Center.

This event is part of the "Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days" 2025 series organized by the Tran Huu Trang Cai Luong Theatre. Here, audiences can experience the classic characters in famous excerpts from "Mong Hoa Vuong" and "Doi Co Luu" - two representative works of the realistic and humanistic writing style of the late playwright Tran Huu Trang.

Artists Phung Ngoc Bay and People's Artist My Hang performed a traditional song in remembrance of the author Tran Huu Trang.

If "Dream of the Flower King" is a tragic tale about the human condition caught in the whirlwind of power and love, then "The Life of Miss Luu," performed by artists Phung Ngoc Bay, Kim Luan, and Diem Kieu, moves viewers to tears with the story of a woman who endures much bitterness but possesses a forgiving heart.

The program introduces the audience to the portrait of Tran Huu Trang - a former barber who became a great playwright, the author of nearly 30 classic plays, from "Red Fire, Loyal Heart," "The Artist's Soul," "Lan and Diep," "To Anh Nguyet" to "The Life of Co Luu." His works reflect social reality and stir people's conscience, contributing to shaping the language and aesthetics of Vietnamese Cai Luong theater in the 20th century.
