Implementation of cultural, sports, and tourism activities in 2024

This afternoon, January 12th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH,TT&DL) held a conference to implement its work plan for 2024. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Hoang Nam, attended the conference.

In 2023, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism demonstrated a spirit of unity, proactiveness, creativity, and decisiveness in its management, operation, and performance of its functions and tasks, ensuring that the set plan was achieved and exceeded.

In particular, the department successfully advised on and organized commemorative activities for major holidays, creating a deep impression on Party and State leaders, the people, and domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to promoting the image and enhancing the position and prestige of Quang Tri province, such as: the 2023 National Reunification Festival and the opening of the 2023 Quang Tri tourism season; the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the Headquarters of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam; coordinating the successful organization of the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated areas of South Vietnam in Quang Tri; the 100th anniversary of the birth of General Doan Khue... It also advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Plan No. 233/KH-UBND dated December 10, 2023, to organize the first Peace Festival in 2024, and simultaneously prepared the necessary conditions for organizing the festival.

Sports activities are increasingly developing, diversifying in form and deepening in content. The provincial Paralympic team participated in the 2023 Southeast Asian Paralympic Games and won 13 medals. Athletes participating in the Asian Junior Rowing Championships won 1 gold medal; and at the Southeast Asian Junior Athletics Championships, they won 1 silver medal.

In 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism set forth the following key tasks: Continuing to effectively implement Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW dated June 4, 2020, of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW dated June 9, 2014, of the 9th Plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (11th term) on "Developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development"; and the Conclusion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Culture Conference on implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party.

The provincial leadership advised on the successful organization of activities within the framework of the 2024 Peace Festival. They also organized the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival in Quang Tri. Furthermore, they continued to effectively implement Resolution 167/NQ-HĐND dated December 9, 2021, of the Provincial People's Council on investment, restoration, and prevention of degradation of the historical and cultural relic system in Quang Tri province, giai đoạn 2022-2025.

Promote the restructuring of the tourism industry towards professionalism, quality, and sustainability; enhance the competitiveness of tourism businesses. Continue implementing the Digital Transformation Project in the tourism sector; and the National Target Program in Project 6 "Preserving and promoting the valuable traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities in conjunction with tourism development".

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam praised the outstanding efforts of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism over the past year, with positive results.

It is suggested that in the coming period, the sector should closely follow the work program of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to proactively implement tasks in order to achieve the best results. Focus on the following tasks: organizing cultural, sports and tourism activities to serve political tasks, commemorating major holidays and important events of the province and the country, especially activities celebrating the Party, the Spring Festival, and the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024.

With the first-ever Peace Festival scheduled for 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is advising the Provincial People's Committee to work with central ministries and agencies to finalize the content and specific program for each activity of the festival. This will be combined with the organization of activities commemorating major holidays and events in 2024, ensuring practicality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.

Continue to advise on and effectively implement the "National Unity in Building a Culturally Rich Life" movement. Effectively implement the resolutions and action programs of the central and local governments on developing tourism into a key economic sector.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded a commendation flag to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and certificates of merit to 2 collectives and 2 individuals; the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded the title of Excellent Labor Collective and certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 2 individuals; and the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 9 individuals for outstanding achievements in 2024.
