On April 1st, the Ministry of Education and Training issued document No. 1426/BGDĐT-HSSV to educational institutions regarding the implementation of the "Month of Action for Food Safety" in 2025.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training requests that provincial education and training departments, higher education institutions, and vocational education institutions proactively coordinate with the health sector and relevant local agencies to implement the "Month of Action for Food Safety" in 2025 from April 15th to May 15th with the theme: "Ensuring food safety, with a focus on food safety in collective kitchens, catering services, and street food."
Educational institutions should strengthen their efforts in disseminating information and educating students, teachers, administrators, and food processing staff in school cafeterias and canteens about selecting healthy foods and ensuring food safety; implementing personal hygiene and school hygiene to prevent food contamination, foodborne illnesses, and infectious diseases.
Other food services in schools must ensure compliance with disease prevention and control requirements and food safety regulations.
The Ministry of Education and Training also requires educational institutions to proactively develop plans and closely coordinate between schools, families, and local authorities to prepare contingency plans for responding to and handling situations arising from food poisoning incidents in schools; strengthen inter-agency coordination in education and health inspections; and mobilize the participation of parent representatives in monitoring hygiene, food safety, and the quality of school meals to detect and promptly address violations in educational institutions.
