After receiving the award Aspiration of Cricket At the 4th De Men Children's Prize - 2023, on the afternoon of 8.6 at Huyen Art House (8A Dang Tat, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), 11-year-old artist Hoang Nhat Quang will open a solo exhibition by the newspaper. Sports and Culturea, Huyen Art House and his family made and displayed about 25 selected paintings called Hidden souls, shimmering colors.
Poet Tran Dang Khoa, Chairman of the Jury of the Children's Prize Cricket The 4th - 2023 once affirmed: "Hoang Nhat Quang is the most interesting discovery of Cricket this year and the whole tournament Cricket ever".
As for artist Thanh Chuong, he commented: "Hoang Nhat Quang's paintings have the innocence of childhood, but at the same time, there are very old ideas and thoughts of a real artist, not just a child. That's what makes me and many people startled by your work. This can be seen as a phenomenon that opens up the possibility of long-term development and hope."
Selling paintings for charity work
Child painter Hoang Nhat Quang was born in 2012, Tay ethnic, studying in class 5A1, Le Quy Don Primary & Secondary School (Lang Son City). Quang's favorite subjects are fine arts and history. Quang started painting regularly from the age of 9, and so far has painted about 40 complete paintings, including many large-format paintings.
Hoang Nhat Quang has been exposed to painting since childhood, guided by his father, painter Hoang Van Diem. My father and painter Cao Thanh Son have a studio together, so they often take me to the studio to play. Having a curious nature, like to explore, Quang soon picked up a brush and color to paint. Around the age of 4, Quang completed his first paintings on an easel. At that time, his family only thought that Quang was drawing for fun, not paying much attention. After that, I drew many crayons on paper. To encourage you, I bought each completed picture you drew for 10.000 VND as a daily snack. It was not until the age of 9 that Quang painted larger-scale paintings with acrylic materials.
Hoang Nhat Quang said that his point of view is: "All living things have souls, even in living entities, each small part will also have its own voice".
When asked what Quang drew in the picture? Quang replied, "I don't know, I'll just draw if I like it". But when looking at pictures and observing pictures, I see that Quang always wants to anthropomorphize everything, wants to put voice into inanimate objects. Whether drawing still lifes or other inanimate objects, Quang often paints eyes, nose, and limbs to bring them to life. There are pictures with eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hands, feet, body... painted to look like a human, but there are also pictures that are not.
When drawing people, Quang also added his own limbs, if he liked it. Sometimes it even combines human hands with robotic hands, sometimes incorporating separate symbols. Hoang Van Diem - her father said: "As a painter, I also want to give suggestions to my son, but after a few times seeing that he doesn't seem to want to listen, I understand that I can't impose my thoughts and views, so I just let it be, only being present when I really need me."
It is known that after the exhibition Hidden souls ending on June 18.6, painter Hoang Nhat Quang and his family also want to deduct part of the proceeds from the sale of paintings to contribute to the fund For the school roof for you of the newspaper Sports and Culture, towards the renovation and construction of new classrooms for children in difficult and deprived areas. Currently, the fund has built and handed over a classroom in Son La province, and in the near future, a new classroom will be started in Quang Nam province. Each class is about 300 million VND.
