Becoming a major city requires big thinking.

For nearly 40 years of reform, Dong Nai has consistently ranked among the top provinces and cities nationwide in industrial and agricultural development, attracting domestic and foreign investment, and contributing to state budget revenue. This has provided a solid foundation for Dong Nai to become a modern industrial center, participating in rapid and deep international integration. Simultaneously, Dong Nai has also become a major urban center attracting a large workforce from across the country to live and work there.

From July 2025, administrative unit adjustments will open up new spaces with many potentials and advantages for Dong Nai's development. However, opportunities and challenges are always intertwined, requiring urban development to have a long-term mindset and vision to plan and manage appropriately for a large city.

As a major industrial center of the country, Dong Nai's urbanization rate has been rapid in recent years, especially in central areas such as Tran Bien, Tam Hiep, Phuoc Tan, Bien Hoa, Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, and Trang Bom. In the last 5-6 years, inter-regional transportation infrastructure has been heavily invested in with many key projects such as Long Thanh International Airport, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, and various ring roads. These key national and regional transportation projects have created momentum for the formation and development of large-scale, modern cities with high regional connectivity.
