On the morning of April 30, 2025 - exactly 50 years since the reunification of the country - the heart of Ho Chi Minh City was awakened by the resounding trumpets, the vibrant and majestic drums of the marching and parade contingents.
The resonance of past, present, and future
From dawn, tens of thousands of people flocked to the city center. In their hands were red flags with yellow stars, on their shirts were the emblem of the Fatherland, and in their hearts was a profound sense of pride.
After 50 years, tens of thousands of footsteps once again resounded along Le Duan Street, heading towards the Reunification Hall. This time, there was no longer the atmosphere of war, no longer the image of Liberation Army tanks crashing through the main gate – closing a war that lasted more than two decades. Today, the Reunification Hall is a place where thousands of people gathered in a festive atmosphere, a place where history, present, and future intersect.

Thirteen,000 people from the elite armed forces and representatives from all walks of life marched across the platform. Squadrons of dozens of Su-30MK2 fighter jets and helicopters soared through the clouds, dropping salvos over Ho Chi Minh City.
The elderly silently wiped away tears as the troops marched past, the children sitting on their fathers' shoulders waved flags in greeting, and the young people stood at attention saluting the flag. All of this created a scene that was both majestic and heartwarming.
They came not just to "watch" the parade, but to relive and reconnect with history – not through books, but right in the heart of the city, amidst the marching music, and the synchronized steps of the armed forces marching past the reviewing stand.
To make this ceremony a resounding success, tens of thousands of people had been quietly preparing for months. Teams practiced under the scorching sun, squadrons conducted test flights in the sky. The sound system, television, security, and logistics all worked together seamlessly, like a harmonious symphony of dedication and responsibility.
It's not just about organizing events, but about gratitude for the past and appreciation for the present.

A special highlight of this year's parade is the participation of honor guard units from China, Laos, and Cambodia – three countries with long-standing traditional friendships with Vietnam.
This is not just a diplomatic gesture, but a symbol of solidarity and close ties between neighboring Indochinese countries and the region.
Inviting friendly countries to participate in the parade alongside Vietnamese forces demonstrates an open Vietnam, ready to cooperate for peace , stability, and development in the region.

What moved many people the most was the weather, as well as their understanding of the significance of this momentous event. After several days of unseasonal rain in Ho Chi Minh City, the morning of April 30th was clear, with gentle sunshine and a mild breeze.
During a rehearsal earlier, it suddenly started raining, and thousands of soldiers trained in the rain. That image truly touched the hearts of the people.
On social media, many people even said they were willing to trade mild weather for Ho Chi Minh City on that historic April day: "I'm in Hanoi , I beg God to exchange favorable weather for Ho Chi Minh City on this important day. Hanoi is ready to receive rain for many days!"
And then, as if listening to the people's hearts, on the morning of April 30th, the sunlight gently fell on the rows of ancient trees leading to the Reunification Hall. Along the routes the parade and march passed, the sun peeked through the trees, blending with the rhythm of the drums and the formations of the soldiers.

And today, May 1st, Hanoi unexpectedly experienced heavy rain, like a "rain washing over the temple," a belated but profound congratulatory message from nature. If April 30th was a majestic symphony bathed in warm sunshine, then today is the "aftermath," the rain washing away worries, leaving only gratitude and spreading faith.
Many people jokingly but meaningfully say, "The sky waited until after the ceremony to rain, perhaps also wanting to celebrate with the country ." It may just be a coincidence, but in the spirit of a momentous anniversary, Vietnamese people believe that nature is not detached, but rather breathes in unison with the human heart.
The sky was clear when the ceremony began. A gentle rain fell when it ended. That alone was enough to show that nature understood the human heart. The whole world seemed to bow before half a century of peace, before people who cherish history and live for the future.

In conclusion, let me quote from General Secretary To Lam's speech at the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country: "Half a century has passed, but with the great achievements we have made, we are standing at a new historical starting point to propel the country forward, take flight, and 'stand shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the world'."
...
With the courage, intelligence, and strength of Vietnam, we achieved the Great Victory of Spring 1975. We will certainly continue to achieve even greater accomplishments, creating miracles in the new era, an era of wealth, civilization, prosperity, and national progress, building our country to be "more decent and more beautiful," standing shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the world, as President Ho Chi Minh wished and the entire nation aspired to.
