After the 50th anniversary celebration of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) was held on a large scale in Ho Chi Minh City on April 30, Cambodia's CNC TV channel broadcast many related articles and comments.

Among these, there is a special commentary program with the theme “ World Press Week in the context of Vietnam’s historical truth on April 30,” with the guest speaker being veteran journalist Khieu Kola, who has just returned to Cambodia from a grand celebration in the neighboring country.

According to a VNA reporter in Phnom Penh, in a special commentary program broadcast on May 2, Mr. Khieu Kola, senior editor of CNC TV channel under Royal Group, shared his feelings about the series of exciting and impressive events within the framework of the event that just ended in Ho Chi Minh City, which the station called "World Press Week in the context of Vietnam's historical truth on April 30."

In it, the veteran Cambodian journalist recounted images “witnessed for the first time in his life” with millions of people and tourists cheering on Le Duan Boulevard and main roads in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, along with a spectacular parade with 13,000 participants, including Cambodian, Laotian and Chinese troops.

In the 16-minute commentary program on CNC TV, speaker Khieu Kola spent a lot of time introducing the main and impressive contents that he directly heard and recorded at the "grand celebration" in the speech of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam.

In which, it affirmed that the April 30 event was the most brilliant milestone in the history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people, marking the glorious end of the 30-year resilient fight for independence, freedom, and national unification, ending more than a century of domination by old and new colonialism, bringing the country into a new era, the era of national independence and socialism.

According to the veteran Cambodian journalist, in his speech at the solemn event before a large number of international guests and millions of people, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that after 50 years of national reunification and nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process, Vietnam has overcome many difficulties and challenges, achieved great and historic achievements, and created the foundation, potential, position and international prestige it has today.

As the only Cambodian reporter attending the ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City at the invitation of the event organizers, through the program, Mr. Khieu Kola expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh for creating the opportunity for him to attend this unforgettable and impressive event; and expressed his pride in witnessing with his own eyes the President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the podium, along with the parade of the Royal Cambodian Army, in the large-scale parade of the Vietnam People's Army, also known as "Uncle Ho's Army" founded by President Ho Chi Minh.

Previously, journalist Khieu Kola made a lengthy report on the event he called a “great ceremony,” a “great historical event” that took place in Ho Chi Minh City on April 30, with parades, art performances, bicycle races, and the release of balloons and doves symbolizing the desire for peace.

In the article titled “Vietnam celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, contributing to regional and world peace, ” journalist Khieu Kola described the great victory of April 30, 1975, the day of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Vietnam, as a common victory of the Vietnamese and Cambodian peoples because the armies and peoples of the two countries supported and helped each other in the struggle to expel imperialist and colonial invaders.

In that spirit, the author believes that the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification is also an ideal occasion for Vietnam to commemorate the contributions of international friends, including the Cambodian people, who have shared hardships and stood shoulder to shoulder with the Vietnamese people in the struggle to overthrow colonialism and imperialism in the past, as well as to build a friendly, united and mutually developing neighborly relationship like today.

According to the article, Vietnam is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day in the context that this Southeast Asian country has achieved many outstanding achievements in socio-economic development after 50 years of national reunification.

Specifically, by 2025, Vietnam's population will exceed 100 million people compared to 46 million people in 1975; while the total domestic income (GDP) will reach 500 billion USD, and the average income per capita will exceed 5,000 USD.

In addition, infrastructure construction in Vietnam has been implemented synchronously down to villages, communes, and households, with many regional and world-class projects approved and under construction. Typical examples are the North-South High-Speed ​​Railway Project with a total investment of about 67 billion USD, and the Long Thanh International Airport Project with an investment of more than 44 billion USD..../.
