Join hands to maintain product reputation

Not only stopping at state management agencies in inspecting and controlling quality, many cooperatives and enterprises in the province have proactively participated in the chain, applying traceability technology to enhance the value and reputation of products. Mr. Bui Van Khoi - Director of Lao Cai Agricultural and Service Cooperative shared: We are maintaining production chains with farmers in many communes in the area to ensure control from planting, harvesting to processing and packaging of commercial rice. Each batch of rice is labeled with a traceability code, with a diary clearly recording the cultivation, fertilization and spraying process. Thanks to that, the cooperative's rice products are trusted by the market, stably supplying more than 350 tons to the market in and outside the province each year.

According to Mr. Truong Manh Hung - Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Province Cooperative Alliance, in recent times, the Alliance has focused on supporting cooperatives to participate in production linkages, register for traceability and protect product brands. "We consider support from the root to be the most important, helping cooperatives improve management capacity, apply safe production processes, and ensure quality right at the facility. From there, new products are eligible to participate in the OCOP program, aiming for high-quality product lines with a sustainable position in the market" - Mr. Hung said.

Stories from cooperatives such as Lao Cai Agricultural and Service Cooperative show that when businesses, cooperatives and people join hands to implement traceability, product quality is affirmed and the reputation of local agricultural products is increasingly enhanced.

Strictly control quality, protect local agricultural product brands

According to the Department of Quality and Rural Development, Department of Agriculture and Environment, in the first 9 months of 2025, the province has appraised and granted 29 certificates of qualified food safety facilities to agricultural, forestry and fishery production and trading establishments. At the same time, 10 safe food supply chains have been confirmed, bringing the total number of confirmed chains in the province to 184.

Coordination of inspection and supervision was also strictly implemented with 130 inspected establishments, of which 9 establishments were fined 47 million VND for violations. The interdisciplinary inspection teams coordinated with the Market Management Department to handle many violations related to goods of unknown origin and not ensuring food safety. In particular, the Department coordinated to trace the origin of the exported black tea batch warned of pesticide residues (Anthraquinone) of Tran Phu Tea Company. The inspection results confirmed that the residues met the requirements, thereby helping the enterprise protect its reputation and export market.

Along with quality control, market development and trade promotion activities are implemented synchronously. Up to now, there are 111 enterprises and cooperatives participating in the electronic traceability information system of agricultural products with 352 product lines; 262 units participating in the online trade promotion system with more than 500 products being promoted and consumed. These are numbers showing the strong transformation of Lao Cai agriculture in applying digital technology , gradually affirming its brand in the market.

Synchronizing solutions to maintain "output" for Lao Cai agricultural products

To continue effectively implementing the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch 150/CD-TTg, in the last months of 2025, the Department of Quality and Rural Development identified a number of key tasks: Strengthening coordination in organizing training, raising awareness of quality management and food safety; conducting surprise inspections of high-risk processing and trading establishments; coordinating the tracing of products with quality warnings, especially export goods.

Mr. Bui Manh Hung - Deputy Head of the Department of Quality and Rural Development of Lao Cai province affirmed: In the coming time, we will continue to tighten quality control and traceability in the entire production - processing - business chain; promote the application of information technology, creating a foundation for modern, transparent management and moving towards green, sustainable agriculture.

With synchronous solutions from management to production practices, along with close coordination between sectors, localities and enterprises, Lao Cai is gradually improving its reputation, affirming the position of local agricultural products on the agricultural map of Vietnam.

Lao Cai agricultural products have reached many supermarket systems and suppliers in provinces and cities.

Previously, implementing the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 150/CD-TTg dated August 29, 2025 on enhancing traceability, ensuring the quality and reputation of exported Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province issued a specific directive, requesting departments, branches and localities to urgently and synchronously deploy solutions throughout the area.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to take the lead in establishing and managing codes for growing areas and packaging facilities for export; guiding people and businesses to produce according to the value chain, meeting the strict requirements of import markets, especially the European market. Along with that, the province requires strengthening control of pesticide residues, chemicals and antibiotics in cultivation, livestock farming, aquaculture, and resolutely handling violating facilities to ensure transparency and food safety.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade and the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board are also assigned to closely coordinate in managing agricultural product exports across the border. At Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II, the "Digital Border Gate" platform continues to operate effectively, helping to shorten customs clearance time, enhance traceability and quickly handle violations of goods origin.

Notably, the Department of Science and Technology is accelerating the completion of the provincial product and goods traceability portal, connecting it with the national system. Thereby, businesses, cooperatives and production facilities can easily apply digital technology, labeling, codes, barcodes, electronic diaries, creating conditions for Lao Cai agricultural products to integrate into domestic and foreign markets.
