An Farm Hoi An is a green farm spanning approximately 3,000 square meters located at 633 Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (Hoi An Tay Ward). The farm cultivates a diverse range of local and imported vegetables, fruits, herbs, and medicinal plants entirely through natural, organic farming practices.

This project is the brainchild of Ms. Le Pham Thien Hang, a master's degree holder in food technology, a nutritionist, and a passionate researcher of herbs.

At An Farm Hoi An, Ms. Thien Hang is organically cultivating dandelions, lemongrass, ginger, turmeric, black turmeric, and other herbs. To promote the healthy growth of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and medicinal plants, the farm uses organic fertilizers made from duckweed, cow manure, and earthworms.

Ms. Thien Hang harvests the aforementioned fruits and vegetables to process them into flower tea, turmeric powder, black turmeric powder, ginger powder, stevia powder, dandelion tea, etc., for sale on the market. Each product is labeled with a QR code so customers can trace its origin and use it with confidence.

Ms. Thien Hang has collaborated with major travel agencies such as EXO Travel, Discova, and Casia Travel to bring foreign tourists to visit organic farms. During the tour, visitors receive detailed explanations of different types of vegetables, their uses, cultivation methods, organic farming practices, and can sample processed herbs and medicinal plants.

Visitors experience a cool, fresh garden environment filled with the scent of herbs and medicinal plants, providing a relaxing feeling and a close connection with nature. Many visitors are impressed by Ms. Thien Hang's organic farming practices.

“I’ve had the opportunity to travel and experience rural life and agriculture in many countries around the world . However, nowhere has given me as much enjoyment as An Farm Hoi An organic farm. I will use herbs and medicinal plants in preparing food, tea, cosmetics, spices, essential oils… to improve the health of myself and my family,” said Madolline Gourley, a tourist from Australia.

At An Farm Hoi An, there is a solar-powered herb drying area and a handcrafted herb processing area, completely free of any chemical preservatives. In addition, An Farm Hoi An conducts programs to share information about organic farming, the value of herbs, and how to use herbs to improve health for students and local residents.

An inevitable trend

Vietnam's agricultural sector has clearly defined its vision for 2030: to create a digital agricultural environment and ecosystem as a foundation; to promote the transformation from agricultural production to an agricultural economy; and to develop smart, organic, safe, precise, traceable, and transparent agriculture.

The Da Nang City People's Committee has set a direction for restructuring the agricultural production sector towards modernization, traceability, increased productivity and competitiveness, creating key, distinctive, organic, multi-valued products, ensuring food safety, and serving tourism. This serves as a guiding principle for the city's agricultural sector to develop sustainable agriculture, increase value, and find export opportunities for agricultural products.

Product transparency is a top priority for consumers, especially foreign customers, to choose agricultural products and food. Therefore, individuals and organizations need to attach a traceability code to the packaging of each product sold.

Consumers can scan the code to get full information about the purchased item, tracing back from the final product to its original place of production. This is a key factor in persuading domestic and international consumers to use agricultural products from the city.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vu, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, traceable agricultural products will protect brands and enhance the value of businesses and production facilities by increasing competitiveness and stimulating consumer purchases. This is also a foundation for developing markets for agricultural products, especially for exporting goods to the global market.
