Agricultural exports are under pressure from the world and domestically.
Vietnam's agricultural sector has faced many difficulties in the first 11 months of 2025. Increasing global trade tensions, along with stricter requirements on traceability and food safety, have created major barriers to agricultural exports.
Domestically, natural disasters and extreme weather since the end of the third quarter have caused severe damage to people and property, with an estimated total loss of nearly VND100,000 billion. In addition, widespread natural disasters in major markets such as the US, China, and India have also had a strong impact on commodity prices and world food security, increasing the price of inputs for agricultural production.
In the challenging context, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has given proactive and decisive directions. Crop, livestock and aquaculture production has been maintained stably, ensuring the supply of essential food for domestic consumption and making an important contribution to promoting agricultural exports.

The $65 billion target is nearly completed, aiming for the $70 billion mark
As of December 2025, Vietnam's total agricultural export turnover is estimated at 64.01 billion USD, up 12.6% over the same period last year. Notably, all major agricultural product groups achieved growth in export value. With this result, the agricultural sector will certainly complete the target of 65 billion USD assigned by the Government for 2025.
The leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment affirmed that they will continue to firmly pursue the industry's growth target of 4%. The Ministry is striving for agricultural export turnover to reach about 70 billion USD in 2026.
To achieve this ambitious goal, the Ministry will focus on many groups of solutions. The focus is on perfecting institutions and policies to serve the growth of the industry and agricultural exports. Along with that, it is necessary to develop plans and organize working groups to support production development associated with restructuring the agricultural sector.
A core priority solution is to promote the development of agricultural export markets through promoting economic diplomacy policies and strengthening industry chains. The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also increases support for businesses in opening markets and increasing import-export activities.
For the US market, a leading export market, the Ministry will continue to implement an action plan to adapt to the country's new tariff policy. Special attention will be paid to market and science and technology solutions to ensure the maintenance of growth momentum and expansion of market share for Vietnamese agricultural exports.
