To meet the general development requirements of the industry, as well as to improve the effectiveness of applying science and technology to treatment and health care for the people, the City Department of Health has standardized the registration and approval process of research topics in a clear, transparent and strictly managed manner; at the same time, expanding the composition of the council, inviting prestigious scientific experts, increasing the criticality. Establishing a database of scientific experts participating in the review of topics with more than 100 experts in specialized fields throughout the industry...

The leaders of the Department of Health said that in the period of 2020 - 2025, the whole industry has nearly 1,000 scientific research topics at the grassroots level. In addition, the Department of Health and its direct units carry out 8 city-level topics. According to Dr. Mai Van Muoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, the quality of the topics is increasingly improved, closely following the actual needs of health care and bringing practical benefits to patients, contributing to improving the quality of medical work... Along with scientific research work, innovation activities are always interested and focused.

The total number of solutions recognized as innovations in the entire industry in the period 2020 - 2025 is 229 initiatives. Most of the initiatives have good application value, contributing to supporting professional work. Of which, the number of solutions recognized as innovations that have an impact on the city is 16 initiatives. Outstanding scientific research topics, such as: "Building a sperm bank to serve infertility treatment". Accordingly, Da Nang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital successfully built a sperm bank and applied the technique of injecting sperm into the egg cytoplasm to treat patients with azoospermia and severe oligospermia. This is a major breakthrough, aiming to shorten the treatment time and travel costs of people in and outside the city...

Along with that, Da Nang Hospital carries out city-level projects and initiatives, such as: Evaluating the effectiveness of treating acute ischemic stroke within the first 4.5 hours with intravenous thrombolytic drug Alteplas, the effectiveness of microsurgical treatment of ruptured cerebral aneurysms; studying the situation of initial antibiotic use in patients with community-acquired pneumonia and hospital-acquired pneumonia, the effectiveness of applying the artificial heart-lung method (ECMO) in patients with cardiogenic shock and after circulatory arrest, the current situation of multi-resistant bacterial infections and interventional solutions, applying endoscopic surgery through the oral vestibule to treat thyroid disease. In addition, Thanh Khe Regional Medical Center cooperates with Hanoi Medical University to implement the state-level project: "Research and application of prenatal diagnosis measures, reproductive counseling and congenital malformations in areas heavily contaminated with Agent Orange/dioxin"...

According to Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, the health sector needs to continue to promote the spirit of scientific research among medical staff, especially young medical staff. At the same time, advise and propose key scientific and technological tasks at the city, ministry or higher levels. In particular, focus on new, in-depth research topics that are suitable for professional tasks at each unit; urgent research issues that are highly applicable in the entire sector and in line with the city's research program orientation. Focus on scientific and technological tasks that have scale, vision and forecast for the development needs of the sector...
