"The men's team was stuck in traffic in Bangkok, while the women's team had to spend nearly an hour traveling in Chonburi. This led to the training session being interrupted and the competition schedule had to be adjusted accordingly," Siam Sport commented on the difficulties of both Vietnamese football teams at the 33rd SEA Games taking place in Thailand.
Accordingly, the Vietnamese women's team was arranged to stay at a hotel quite far from the competition venue, about 25km from Chonbori Stadium. In the opening match against the Malaysian women's team on December 5, the Vietnamese women's team proactively left the hotel early at 4pm, but the whole team had to spend nearly an hour to get to the competition field, making the preparation for the match not as expected.

This situation continued to recur in the following training sessions of the Vietnamese women's team before the match with the Philippines women's team, greatly affecting the training sessions of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team. However, captain Huynh Nhu and her teammates said that the whole team will try their best to achieve good results in this second match.
Last night (December 7), the Vietnamese women's team had their final training session at Chonbori Stadium in a serious and focused atmosphere. The coaching staff continued to review tactics, especially coordination, competition and the ability to cover between lines to deal with the Philippines' physical playing style.
Speaking before the match with the Philippines, defender Tran Thi Thu shared: "The coaching staff and players are very well prepared, the whole team is determined to win against the Philippines."
When asked if she was worried about the superior physique of the Philippine player, Tran Thi Thu said she had played many matches against strong opponents and had attended the World Cup so she was not worried about this.
“The Philippines has a big and strong physique. The coaching staff has prepared the whole team physically. Regarding technique and tactics, the coaching staff has also come up with a suitable plan and practiced very hard to be ready for the match,” the defender born in 1991 affirmed.
