Under the leadership of Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation attending the flag-raising ceremony included delegation officials and a group of athletes from the national swimming team. According to the arrangement of the Organizing Committee, the flag-raising ceremony of Vietnam was held near the end, before the delegation of the host country Thailand.
In the solemn atmosphere, young swimmer Trinh Truong Vinh (18 years old) could not hide his emotions. Truong Vinh shared: “This is the first time I have attended the flag-raising ceremony at a SEA Games. Being in the ranks of Vietnamese sports is a great honor. This moment gives me more motivation to try harder and contribute to the overall achievements of the team.”
At the Chonburi competition venue, the Organizing Committee plans to hold a second flag-raising ceremony for the teams stationed there on December 11.
Not only marking the official presence of the sports delegations at the Games, the flag-raising ceremony also has a deeper meaning: it symbolizes the spirit of solidarity, friendship and the aspiration to build a peaceful and stable ASEAN Community. When the national flags of Southeast Asian countries fly together to the majestic music, it is a vivid message about the spirit of "One Vision - One Identity - One Community" that ASEAN has repeatedly affirmed.
Since the first Games, the SEA Games have always been considered a forum for exchange and connection rather than a pure achievement race. The flag-raising ceremony has therefore become a moment to remind of the responsibility to jointly foster peace, enhance understanding and sustainable cooperation in the region, in line with the spirit of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, towards an inclusive Southeast Asia, respecting cultural diversity and promoting human values.
In the context of many changes in the region and the world , the image of ASEAN sports delegations present together in a solemn ceremony becomes even more precious. It is also a strong affirmation of the message that ASEAN leaders have repeatedly stated: solidarity, trust and cooperation are the foundation for building a self-reliant ASEAN that proactively overcomes challenges.
For the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, the moment the national flag fluttered in the sky over Bangkok was not only a source of national pride, but also an affirmation of continuing to accompany ASEAN in promoting peace and friendship through sports.
Each athlete entering the SEA Games not only carries the colors of their homeland, but also spreads the spirit of solidarity and the aspiration of a regional community moving towards a prosperous and sustainable future.
