Myanmar women's team shows diverse playing style to fight Vietnam
After the victory over the Philippines, the Myanmar women's team entered the second match against Malaysia on the afternoon of December 8 in a very comfortable mood. They met the lightest opponent in the group, so even though they did not need to try too hard, they still created an advantage. However, Myanmar was not complacent when they still sent their strongest squad onto the field with the determination to "fight quickly and win quickly" to save their strength for the final match of the group stage against Vietnam.

At the beginning of the match, they encountered a well-organized play by the Malaysian girls, especially in closely following and "taking care" of strikers like Win Theingi Tun (7) or Shwe Yee Tun (19), so the Myanmar women's team played a bit slowly, keeping a tight distance. But after only half of the first half, they realized that Malaysia also wanted to rush forward to score because they only had one way to reach the semi-finals, so the current runner-up of the SEA Games and AFF Cup immediately accelerated. They used fast and powerful drills to tear into the gaps that the Malaysian defense had raised.

It was Myanmar's lightning-fast counter-attacks that helped them quickly exploit two scoring opportunities. The first was San Thaw Thaw (8) with a close-range shot, while the second goal was scored by May Htet Lu (13) with a powerful shot from outside the 16m50 box that tore the roof of the Malaysian net. With the momentum after the two early goals, Myanmar played leisurely in the second half but still managed to set the score at 3-0 thanks to the number 1 striker Win Theingi Tun (7). The match was interrupted many times due to scuffles between players on both sides. In particular, Adrienna (11) of Malaysia received a red card.

Clearly, Myanmar showed the mettle of a high-class team when they played with a completely different style of play when facing the Philippines in the first match. That is calmness, patience, waiting for the opportunity and organizing extremely effective counter-attacks. Completely different from the way of attacking first in the opening match, the playing style of captain Khin Marlar Tun (10) and his teammates can completely adapt to any opponent. This is also the way for Myanmar to prepare well for the big match with Vietnam at 4 pm on December 11.

With this win, the Myanmar women's team continues to lead the group with 6 points and will wait for the result of the match between Vietnam and the Philippines to know if they have entered the semi-finals. If Vietnam wins or draws, Myanmar will compete for the top spot in the group with Vietnam. If coach Mai Duc Chung and his team cannot get 3 points, Myanmar will not be sure to enter the semi-finals but will have to wait until December 11 in the decisive match between the two teams to decide.
