After Hoang Hoa Trung - the "father" of the Nuoi Em project - announced the freezing of accounts from 10pm on December 7, expected to last for 15 days, many people wondered what would happen to the students who are being supported by this project.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Tran Thi Huyen, Principal of Anh Duong Kindergarten, Phong Hai commune, Lao Cai province, said that at present, the school has 232 children supported by the Nurturing Children project.
“No one has announced anything so the project is still operating normally here,” said Ms. Huyen.
According to the principal, each meal for students here is 15,000 VND, of which the project supports 6,800 VND/student. The remaining amount is supported by the State and the school socializes.
Previously, before the merger of provinces and cities, the statistics and student records for the project were all done through the Department of Education and Training and by semester.
There is no longer a Department of Education and Training, so the school is responsible for making student records every two months. Based on these records, the project will transfer student support money for the corresponding period of time.

According to Ms. Huyen, students at Anh Duong Kindergarten received support about 2 years ago, while primary school students have received support for many years.
"The school has only submitted the application documents until October. We expect to continue submitting the application documents to the project by the end of December," said the school principal.
According to Ms. Huyen, the students supported by the project are all disadvantaged, orphaned or disabled. If the program is suspended, it will be difficult for them.
“We don’t know what to do if the project is suspended. We will probably have to mobilize support from parents because there is no other source of support,” Ms. Huyen shared.
A source from Van Ban - one of the most disadvantaged localities in Lao Cai province - said that the Nuoi Em project previously supported many students in Van Ban district (old). All activities and records were processed through the Department of Education and Training.
"This school year, after merging and implementing a two-level government, eliminating the Department of Education and Training, students benefiting from the Nurturing Children project are temporarily suspended," the source said.
The noise related to the Nuoi Em project started happening on the night of December 6 on social networks when a series of accounts spoke up to accuse this project of not being transparent.
According to reporters from schools, the project's disbursement to schools is done monthly, but some breeders said they have to pay once for the whole year.
Last night, Hoang Hoa Trung - founder of the Nuoi Em project - said that he would temporarily freeze the account, expected to last for 15 days. The freezing of the account will also temporarily stop paying for feeding the students in the project.

Mr. Hoang Hoa Trung said that although he was very sorry and heartbroken, the team was forced to work with schools as well as authorities to temporarily stop paying for feeding the children.
The founder said this is the first time in its 11-year history that the project has had to pause for a while, but, Hoa Trung believes that the community's trust is much more important at this time.
"I see myself and my team as responsible for providing a full, detailed, transparent and clear explanation. During that time, it was much more important to suspend the Project's operational activities to prioritize focusing on resolving the donors' concerns," said Mr. Hoang Hoa Trung.
According to the “father” of the Nuoi Em project, the project is currently supporting about 50,000-60,000 ethnic minority students nationwide. These difficult student cases are listed by schools and local authorities.
Previously, Nuoi Em sent money to support students through the local Department of Education and Training. Since the district level was abolished, the organization has transferred money directly to the school.
According to the announcement on the website Nuoi Em, the subjects receiving meals are children from 3 to 5 years old and primary to high school students who have not received food support from the State. The subjects are confirmed by local authorities.
In particular, children from 3 to 5 years old receive support from the State, but because of limited costs, the project still provides additional support for this group, expanding from the 2025-2026 school year.
For primary to high school students, the project supports first and second graders living in the village and some special cases, for example, those who do not receive government lunch support because their housing is in a new rural commune or they do not meet the criteria for the policy.
The following year, if the child reaches the age where the State will raise another child, the project will change the information of the other child but keep the same child-raising code.
In some cases, students who live far away have to sleep at school from Monday to Friday. The project will support 2 meals/day for boarding students, ensuring attendance and avoiding cases of students dropping out of school.
The Nurturing Children project model is being implemented in remote, difficult villages.
Each person will adopt a child, at a cost of 150,000 VND/month, for 9 months of the school year. From the 2020-2021 school year, the project will collect an additional 100,000 VND for facilities. Thus, each project participant will send a child to adopt for 1,450,000 VND/year.
