This information was confirmed by Stadium Astro newspaper , saying that the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has submitted an appeal to CAS.

"FAM confirms its registration of appeal with CAS, and CAS will give FAM 10 days to fully present the case file," Stadium Astro said.

According to a statement released by FAM, they “The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) would like to inform you of the latest developments regarding the appeal process at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)”.

"FAM has filed a statement of appeal with CAS, regarding FIFA's sanctions against the governing body and seven naturalized players.

FAM emphasizes its commitment to conducting this naturalization process professionally, transparently and with due respect for all legal procedures. Further developments will be communicated in due course."

This announcement means that CAS will not accept Malaysia's case until December 18 at the earliest, and they will need at least another 1-2 weeks to reach a conclusion.

It is likely that the case will not be concluded in 2025, in line with experts' predictions. This also means that the AFC will certainly not be able to make a decision soon on the loss of Malaysia in the Asian Cup qualifiers.

Recently, Malaysian public opinion has continuously criticized FAM, asking the country's football federation not to waste more time and money on the appeal.

Developments in the FIFA fine against Malaysia related to 7 illegally naturalized players:

- September 26: FIFA fined FAM 350,000 Swiss francs (about RM1.8 million), while seven illegally naturalized players were each fined 2,000 Swiss francs and banned from all football activities for 12 months.

- October 6: FIFA released a detailed 19-page document explaining the legal basis, investigation process and reasons for sanctioning FAM.

- October 15: Malaysia filed an appeal.

- November 3: FIFA Appeal Committee rejects FAM's appeal.
