Scientific workshop "The legacy of Trinh Trang Nguyen Binh Khiem from a modern perspective"
The workshop aims to comprehensively and systematically research and evaluate the content, ideology, philosophy, enlightenment spirit, art and great values in literature, aesthetics, humanity, education, peace ideals, and international influence from the legacy of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem.
Attending the workshop were Nguyen Huy Binh, Deputy Director in charge of the Institute of Literature - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung; leaders of Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; scientists, researchers from Institutes and Universities; members of the UNESCO Campaign Committee to honor Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his death (1585 - 2035); leaders of relevant Departments, branches and localities.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung emphasized that this is an important event to identify, honor and promote the values of cultural heritage as well as the contributions of the outstanding celebrity Nguyen Binh Khiem to the history of the nation. Through this, it will supplement the scientific basis for the construction of a dossier to propose UNESCO to honor Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his death (1585-2035).
At the workshop, the city leaders hoped that scientists and experts would focus on systematizing new information, discoveries and interpretations about Nguyen Binh Khiem's life, career, political - social - educational views; clarifying the issue of textual studies and the literary - historical - philosophical nature in his works.

Comprehensively evaluate the system of ideology, philosophy, enlightenment spirit, along with the great values of literature, aesthetics, humanity, education, peace ideals and international influence of Nguyen Binh Khiem's legacy. At the same time, affirm the outstanding values and great contributions of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem and his legacy to the nation's history, which has influence in many fields of politics, culture and society.
Through that, it suggests new directions and important orientations for the research, protection and promotion of the heritage values of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem in the future.
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong Nguyen Thanh Trung affirmed that Nguyen Binh Khiem's heritage is rich in content, diverse in manifestations in both tangible and intangible aspects, nurturing national cultural identity and orienting sustainable development.
Hai Phong speeds up the progress of building a dossier to honor Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem
VHO - On the morning of December 26, at the Hai Phong City Convention Center, the UNESCO Campaign Committee to honor Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem held a conference to summarize the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025. Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Khac Nam chaired the conference.
Looking from today, the ideological values of Nguyen Binh Khiem still shine in the flow of Vietnamese culture. In the context of integration, when culture becomes the driving force for development, there is an urgent need to preserve and promote cultural values, including the system of cultural heritage related to Nguyen Binh Khiem.
Regarding the reception of Nguyen Binh Khiem's heritage value in the modern period, opinions discussed the work of researching, collecting, displaying, and educating cultural heritage about Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem, bringing Nguyen Binh Khiem's works to readers who are students in high schools, preserving the heritage of the Nguyen Binh Khiem Historical - Cultural Relic Site to enhance historical and cultural values, positioning the local cultural brand through famous people, promoting local tourism development...
After more than 2 months of implementation, the Conference Organizing Committee received 59 reports from scientists, managers, and lecturers from many agencies and units nationwide.
The presentations focused on four contents: The issue of Nguyen Binh Khiem's original writings; Nguyen Binh Khiem's thoughts from a modern perspective; The textual - historical - philosophical consistency through Nguyen Binh Khiem's writings; Receiving Nguyen Binh Khiem's legacy in the context of contemporary culture.
Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem was born in 1491 and died in 1585. He was an outstanding son of Trung Am village, Vinh Lai district (now Nguyen Binh Khiem commune, Hai Phong city). He was one of the outstanding celebrities of the 16th century, a talented scholar with outstanding contributions in the fields of politics, ideology, education and literature.
Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem not only left to posterity a huge treasure of Han Nom poetry and literature, but also a legacy of wise thoughts with timeless value. He is considered the embodiment of Vietnamese wisdom and morality, a person who combines the quintessence of scholarly learning with folk knowledge, expressed in his works, prophecies, teachings, anecdotes and the cultural and religious life of the people.

From there, affirming the outstanding values and great contributions of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem and his legacy to the nation's history, having influence in many fields of politics, culture and society; suggesting new directions, important orientations for research, protection and promotion of the heritage values of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem in the future.
He is a great poet of the nation in terms of both poetic art and reflective content. His poems correctly stated the laws of change of creation and society, so later generations considered them as prophecies, predicting the times hundreds of years in advance.
For the above reasons, Nguyen Binh Khiem was highly appreciated by his contemporaries and posterity in many aspects such as morality, political talent, literature, etc. He became a Trang Trinh, a prophet with prophecies that were extremely surprising because of their accuracy, he became the village tutelary god protecting the villagers, he became the Saint of Cao Dai religion protecting the followers. All the honors of the people, mandarins, court, state and religion, beliefs affirmed that Nguyen Binh Khiem was an influential figure in the history of the nation, he was a true cultural celebrity.
