Lo Lo Chai village (Lung Cu commune, Tuyen Quang province) is one of two representatives of Vietnam recognized by the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as "The best tourist village in the world 2025".
Lo Lo Chai is located at the foot of Lung Cu flagpole - the northernmost point of the country, 154 km from Ha Giang ward, at an altitude of about 1,470 m above sea level. The whole village has 120 households, mainly Lo Lo people, of which 56 households are involved in tourism. Most of the remaining households grow corn, rice and make traditional wine, living here for nearly 800 years.
Hoang Hieu, also known as Hieu Rua, 25 years old, a tourism worker in Tuyen Quang (formerly Ha Giang) recorded the scenery of Lo Lo Chai village on an autumn morning, when the rice was ripe. The photo series was taken around the village, from the rice field behind the house, the typical yin-yang tiled roof to the winding road leading to Lung Cu flagpole.
Hieu said that the early morning in Lo Lo Chai has a very "quiet" beauty, not noisy or rushed. The first rays of sunlight touching the yin-yang tiled roofs and the golden rice fields make the village seem to light up. "Compared to other time frames, the morning here brings a primitive, very peaceful feeling," Hieu shared with Tri Thuc - Znews .
When Lo Lo Chai was honored as the "World's Best Tourist Village 2025", Hieu said he felt proud and moved. To him, this title is a worthy recognition for the local people, who do tourism with all sincerity, still preserving the traditional lifestyle, customs and culture. According to Hieu, this simple way of doing tourism, based on real values, is a clear demonstration of the sustainable development direction that many places are aiming for.
Currently, Lo Lo Chai has about 40 rammed earth houses, most of which are used by locals as homestays to serve tourists. Each house retains its traditional architecture, from the yin-yang tiled roof to the layout of the living space. Inside, many ancient artifacts of the Lo Lo people are displayed, helping visitors better understand the life and culture of the people in the far North, while also bringing a feeling of closeness and warmth like being in the middle of a local family.
According to Hieu, Lo Lo Chai usually welcomes the most tourists during the Lunar New Year and the blooming season. What makes many people love this place is not only the peaceful scenery, but also the gentle, hospitable people who always preserve their own identity. The people do tourism in a very natural way, not ostentatious, just gently sharing their daily lives. For Hieu, it is this simplicity and sincerity that makes Lo Lo Chai so special.
Mr. Sinh Di Gai, head of Lo Lo Chai village, said that ten years ago, when the villagers started doing tourism, everyone was bewildered, learning while working. The whole village burst into happiness when receiving the title "Best tourist village in the world 2025". Thanks to tourism, many households have escaped poverty, have the conditions to invest in their children's education, and gradually improve their lives right in their homeland.
