Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just approved the Project on Management, Protection and Promotion of the Value of Intangible Cultural Heritage "Cham Pottery Art" for the period 2025 - 2028 and the following years.
According to the plan, Khanh Hoa province will invest more than 205 billion VND to build infrastructure, invest in the transmission and training of artisans, and expand the market for Cham pottery products.

With these resources, the Project aims to remove the Cham pottery art heritage from the list of endangered species requiring urgent protection by 2026. By 2027, it aims to complete the cultural space planning and community tourism model for the Bau Truc pottery village.
Specifically, Khanh Hoa province will develop product quality standards and register the exclusive trademark "Cham Pottery" for the Bau Truc pottery village. From 2028 onwards, the goal is to have "Cham Pottery Making Art" recognized as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Cham pottery has a very long history, with pottery-making techniques similar to those used today. Scientists have discovered Cham pottery artifacts dating back 3000 years, but the basic techniques are similar to those of modern Cham pottery.
Bau Truc pottery village, one of the oldest pottery villages in Southeast Asia, still maintains the same production methods as they did hundreds of years ago.
Throughout the ups and downs of history, pottery making has always been closely linked to the economic, cultural, and social life of the Cham people in Bau Truc village. At the end of 2022, "The Art of Cham Pottery Making" was inscribed by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding.
The project in Khanh Hoa province is expected to protect and promote the value of the intangible cultural heritage of Cham pottery making, create sustainable livelihoods, and spread the value of this heritage more widely.
