Púng Luông commune currently has over 200 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea, mainly located at an altitude of over 1,600 meters, with a cool, cold climate year-round – ideal conditions for creating the unique flavor of Púng Luông Shan Tuyet tea. Along with the development of tourism , Púng Luông Shan Tuyet tea has become familiar to consumers because of its rich, distinctive highland flavor.

Previously, Shan Tuyet tea plants were often left abandoned. In 2019, the Pung Luong Agricultural Service Cooperative was established and began operating. The cooperative organized the purchase of fresh tea buds at prices ranging from 16,000 to 30,000 VND/kg, which changed the local people's perceptions. From many abandoned tea plantations, people learned to protect, care for, and nurture them. As a result, many households gained additional income from tea, and their lives gradually improved.

Mr. Lu Phang Khay from Na Hang Tua Chu village, Pung Luong commune, said: "My family has 2 hectares of tea, which brings in an additional income of 40-50 million VND each year. We have learned to pay attention to and care for the tea plants so that the buds produce high-quality and high-yield tea."
Shan Tuyet tea is a precious natural asset, closely linked to the life, culture, and economy of the Mong people in Pung Luong. With its delicious taste and pure cleanliness, after being recognized as a 3-star OCOP product in 2020, it has become a key agricultural product bringing economic benefits to Pung Luong commune.
To maintain the brand's reputation, product quality must be strictly controlled from the cultivation, harvesting, and processing stages, ensuring food safety and hygiene while preserving the natural aroma of Shan Tuyet tea. All products are vacuum-packed upon shipment, with clear traceability information.

Mr. Lu A Cau, from the Pung Luong Agricultural Service Cooperative, shared: "We always prioritize product quality. Therefore, the cooperative has boldly invested in modern processing machinery to ensure product quality and increase productivity in order to compete in the market."

Along with caring for the raw material areas and innovating production lines, Púng Luông commune focuses on product promotion. Products are introduced and promoted through agricultural fairs inside and outside the province. Many production facilities have expanded their distribution channels through e-commerce platforms, bringing their products to customers nationwide.

Mr. Thào A Phềnh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Púng Luông commune, said: "When Shan Tuyet tea became an OCOP product, the Party committee and the government clearly recognized the need to maintain the brand and quality. To achieve this, the commune has planned to increase the area under cultivation, strengthen the care of the raw material region, and maintain product quality from processing facilities."

From a neglected crop, Shan tea has become a key agricultural product in the economic development of Púng Luông commune.
From a neglected crop to a product recognized as a 3-star OCOP product, Púng Luông Shan Tuyet tea is contributing to changing the lives of the local people.
