In 2025, the 11th National Award for External Information continued to attract many high-quality entries, demonstrating timeliness, creativity, and strong influence in external information work; affirming the brand of a prestigious award with many unique and distinctive features.
There are no limits to innovation and creativity.
Entering its 11th season, the National Award for External Information continues to be innovative and creative, in line with the times, directly implementing Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of external information work in the new situation; effectively contributing to the implementation of Resolution 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "International Integration in the New Situation" - one of the "pillars" creating breakthroughs and strong driving forces to firmly lead the country into a new era of development - an era of the Vietnamese nation's rise, for peace , independence, democracy, prosperity, civilization, happiness, and steadily advancing towards socialism. At the same time, the Award contributes to vividly reflecting the development achievements and results of implementing the goals and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress, looking towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
According to the Organizing Committee, the uniqueness of the Award lies in the diversity and richness of the award categories, the range of participants from within the country to abroad, from officials and Party members to the general public and international friends, and from professional to semi-professional and amateur authors.
The award has no limits to innovation and creativity. The award committee welcomes all authors whose works and products come from all parts of the country and many countries, in various forms and languages, but all share a common characteristic: love for Vietnam and its people.
The 10 years of organizing the Award have been 10 years witnessing the continuous change and development of the country. Vietnam has been gaining significant attention and scrutiny from the public, appearing frequently on prestigious international media channels and on the Internet, especially in recent years.
2025 is also a very special year for Vietnam. It is a year of significant historical milestones, marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country; the 135th anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh ; the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; and the final year to successfully complete the goals and tasks of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, leading up to the 14th National Congress. It is also the year in which the Party will make pivotal decisions.
The Awards Council hopes that the 11th National Award for External Information will serve as a channel for conveying the message of national development to international friends; continue to be an achievement in the effective implementation of Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW of the Politburo in practice, attracting strong public attention and having a wide-ranging impact both domestically and internationally. In particular, we hope for greater participation from young people and KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders). This is one of the key activities in the 2025 plan of the Steering Committee for External Information Work...
Disseminating official information
According to the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, external information work is an important part of the Party's political, ideological, and foreign affairs work, state diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy; it is a regular and long-term task of the entire political system under the Party's leadership. To meet the requirements of the coming period, one of the important tasks is to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of communication, expanding the coverage and spread of official information.
As the national news agency, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has always been at the forefront of external information dissemination, proactively innovating its presentation methods, enhancing the application of digital technology, and developing multi-platform, multi-language products. Many of VNA's entries in the 2025 National Award for External Information clearly demonstrate this strength, further affirming its position as a leading national media agency in external communication.
Typically, the Foreign Affairs News Editorial Board of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is tasked with disseminating foreign information through the compilation, editing, and publication of news bulletins in various foreign languages. Its purpose is to introduce the policies of the Party and State to foreigners and Vietnamese people abroad, providing a comprehensive overview of the country's situation. Simultaneously, it introduces the people, history, and culture of Vietnam, as well as the views of the Party and State on current regional and global issues, to domestic and international media outlets and other interested parties.
Leveraging its strengths, the Foreign Affairs News Editorial Board made a strong impression at this year's awards with a series of works titled: "Cultural Diplomacy Strengthens National Power in an Era of Emergence."
According to the authors, in the context of increasingly fierce global competition, cultural diplomacy is increasingly asserting its strategic position in Vietnam's foreign policy – a country with a thousand-year-old culture that embodies many unique values and identities, and which is increasingly attracting the interest and desire of young people to contribute.
Therefore, reporters Hong Nhung and Ngoc Ly developed this topic, gathered information, and conducted interviews with leaders of ministries and departments, international scholars, overseas Vietnamese, artists, and influential youth representatives. The message emphasized in this series of articles is that Vietnam is innovating its approach so that cultural diplomacy becomes a strategic tool to strengthen its economic and political power in the new era.
Notably, the series of articles goes beyond simply introducing cultural phenomena; it delves into analyzing policies and trends, raising questions about national identity, influence, and image in the context of integration, offering new perspectives from various countries such as the UK, Australia, Canada, China, and South Korea. The series comprises five works; upon publication, it received significant attention and was published in numerous domestic newspapers. Simultaneously, it was shared on social media by professors from Australia and the UK, spreading Vietnam's cultural diplomacy message to the international academic community and friends across the globe.
This series of articles shows that cultural diplomacy is not only a pillar of foreign policy, but also a lever to enhance Vietnam's position in the era of integration. When placed at the right strategic level, culture will become a powerful force for connecting and spreading the nation's influence in the long term. This is also the overarching message that the team of reporters wants to convey to readers both domestically and internationally.
Participating in the Award, the work "Vietnam on the World Map: From Humble Presence to the Status of a Powerful Nation" by the online newspaper VietnamPlus left its mark by proactively grasping the development trends of modern media to expand information coverage. The series of articles, presented in MegaStory format, aimed to comprehensively, vividly, and convincingly "record" the more than 80-year journey of nation-building and national defense of Vietnam – from the period of a young nation overcoming war and hardship, to the period of innovation, integration, and strong development as it is today.
"With historical milestones, socio-economic achievements, diplomatic successes, and international integration, we realized the need for a comprehensive 'picture' to help audiences both domestically and internationally better understand Vietnam's position and aspirations. That is the motivation behind this series of articles," journalist Chu Thi Hong Kieu shared.
Regarding the highlights of the work, journalist Chu Thi Hong Kieu said: "This series of works not only discusses Vietnam from an economic or diplomatic perspective, but also traces a journey from independence, resistance, peace, reform, development, and integration. The articles help international readers, Vietnamese people abroad, or the international community to better understand a reformed, developing, and resilient Vietnam; contributing to external information work – bringing accurate, comprehensive, and distinctive knowledge about Vietnam to the world."
With the enthusiastic participation of major media outlets, professional journalists, and numerous authors and collaborators both domestically and internationally, the 2025 National Award for External Information continues to affirm the appeal and prestige of a national-level award. The outstanding entries not only contribute to disseminating official information and promoting the image of a modern, culturally rich Vietnam, but also demonstrate a determination to innovate and improve the quality of external information work in the new era.
