Associate Professor Mai Duy Ton (49 years old, from Thanh Hoa ) - Director of the Stroke Center, Bach Mai Hospital is one of the candidates for the position of Professor of Medicine in 2025.
He is known as the first person to successfully implement thrombolysis treatment for stroke patients at Bach Mai Hospital. This is an important step forward in improving the prognosis and quality of treatment for patients in Vietnam.

Regarding his work process, in 2001, Mr. Mai Duy Ton began his residency program in Emergency Resuscitation at Hanoi Medical University and was awarded his residency degree in 2005. The doctor continued to complete his postgraduate training program at this same facility, received his Master of Medicine degree in 2009 and successfully defended his PhD thesis in Emergency Resuscitation in 2013.
From 2014 to 2018, Dr. Mai Duy Ton studied for a Master's degree in Stroke at Danube University Krems, Austria. In 2016, he was appointed Associate Professor.
From 2019 to 2020, Associate Professor Mai Duy Ton held the position of Deputy Head of the Emergency Department, Bach Mai Hospital. From 2020 to present, he has held the position of Director of the Stroke Center at Bach Mai Hospital.
Associate Professor Mai Duy Ton has many outstanding contributions in the field of emergency resuscitation and stroke. His main research directions include ischemic stroke; hemorrhagic stroke; stroke resuscitation; building a stroke emergency system.
To date, he has published 178 scientific articles, including: 52 articles in prestigious international journals, of which 19 are main authors (including 13 articles as first author, 6 articles as corresponding authors); 126 articles published in domestic specialized journals.
In addition to scientific articles, he is also the author and co-author of many books published by prestigious domestic publishers, including 2 textbooks, 2 monographs, and 3 reference books.
In addition, Associate Professor Mai Duy Ton has chaired and participated in 14 scientific projects from the grassroots level and above. In particular, he is the head of 1 project at the Ministry/City level, and 1 project at the Hanoi National University level.
Thanks to his contributions to the Vietnamese healthcare sector, Associate Professor Mai Duy Ton has been awarded many noble titles and awards, including: Title of Excellent Teacher (2015); Excellent Doctor Award presented by the Ministry of Health (2018); Recognition by the Vietnam Medical Association for research and application of new treatment methods in the field of emergency resuscitation and stroke.
In particular, Associate Professor Mai Duy Ton was nominated by the World Stroke Association to be among the group of outstanding individuals honored in 2022 for his great contributions to the stroke profession in Vietnam and the world.
