Speaking at the press conference, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Bach Lien Huong said: Photo Hanoi '25 - International Photography Biennale is a continuation of the photo exhibition project jointly organized by the Embassy of the French Republic in Vietnam, the Hanoi People's Committee, and partners operating in the fields of culture and arts in 2021 and 2023. Through two seasons in 2021 and 2023, Photo Hanoi has demonstrated its strong appeal with more than 170,000 visitors, 200 articles and 5 million social media accesses.

Photo Hanoi '25 is a joint picture of the resonance and connection of domestic and foreign organizations, units and individuals with the same desire to commit to bringing quality art closer to all classes of the public who love photography, people and tourists. This is a good opportunity for Vietnamese and international photographers to have the opportunity to display their outstanding works, share technology and experience in unique, diverse and rich creative methods; actively contribute to effectively promoting the potential and cultural strengths of the Capital, raising awareness of the social community and businesses about the important role of the creative cultural industry in the socio -economic development of the City.

"In addition, the implementation of the Photo Hanoi '25 event also demonstrates the City's strong commitment to implementing cultural initiatives and projects within the framework of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network through organizing events associated with diversifying forms of artistic creativity; promoting international cooperation and cultural integration between the capital Hanoi and countries in the region and the world; making a meaningful contribution to making Hanoi a regional creative center" - Ms. Bach Lien Huong emphasized.

Sharing at the press conference, Chief Representative of UNESCO in Vietnam Jonathan Wallace Baker said that over the years, Photo Hanoi has built a solid foundation through strategic cooperation between the French Institute in Vietnam and the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, UNESCO, and a wide network of partners. This Biennale is a testament to the achievements that can be achieved when local leadership, international cooperation and artistic vision come together.

"Through this Biennale, Hanoi not only opens its doors to the art world, but also provokes dialogues about people and how we perceive the world around us. Through this, the event has strongly affirmed Hanoi's commitment as a UNESCO Creative City, where creativity is not limited to cultural institutions, but becomes part of urban life. This is also a statement that culture can be both local and global, preserving tradition and promoting innovation, both intimate and universal" - said Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker.

Photo Hanoi '25 is organized with a series of activities taking place at more than 20 locations, with the expectation of contributing to building Hanoi into a creative meeting place in the field of photography in Asia, as well as an attractive destination for the domestic and international visual art community.

Curator Nguyen The Son shares about the new points of Photo Hanoi '25

Photo Hanoi '25 brings together more than 170 artists, photographers, curators and experts from 21 countries, along with 25 accompanying professional organizations. Over the course of a month, the public will be able to enjoy 22 free solo and group photography exhibitions, along with 29 side events ranging from seminars, workshops, art tours, book launches, film screenings to portfolio reviews (consulting sessions, professional support in the field of photography).

Sharing about the new features of Photo Hanoi this year, Curator Nguyen The Son shared that the number of participating artists doubled from last year, showing the great interest of artists in this event.

In particular, this year's exhibitions are not only held at cultural institutions such as: Exhibition House 45 Trang Tien, 93 Dinh Tien Hoang, Cultural and Art Center 22 Hang Buom, 02 Le Thai To, 49 Tran Hung Dao... or cultural spaces and galleries familiar to the public who love visual arts such as the French Institute Vietnam, Japan Foundation, Casa Italia, Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA), Complex 01, Long Bien Art Space, Matca, S+ Six Senses Space, Chau & Co gallery... but also appear in many prominent public spaces of the Capital such as Dien Hong flower garden, Hoan Kiem lake shore, the wall of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, or the facade of the French Embassy.

Through this, local people and international visitors will experience photography techniques in many outdoor spaces, practice manual photography, take photos with antique cameras, explore the 19th-century wet plate technique, lumen photo printing workshop, make handmade photo books... Viewers will not only admire the works but also have the opportunity to directly participate in the creative process, making photography a lively and familiar part of daily cultural life.

Photo Hanoi '25 recognizes the particularly important role of foreign embassies, delegations and cultural centers in Vietnam such as the European Union Delegation, the Embassies of France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Ireland, the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation (Bruxelles), Japan Foundation (Japan), British Council (UK), Goethe Institute (Germany), Casa Italia (Italy), Czech Cultural Center in Vietnam... in introducing, connecting and supporting artists participating in Photo Hanoi.
