2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the first Moomin comic book by Tove Jansson – a timeless and iconic artistic legacy of Northern Europe. The Moomin series comprises nine classic novels, each a small world containing profound lessons about growing up, loneliness, family, and the yearning for home. In Vietnam, Tove Jansson's first book, * The Witch's Hat*, was introduced to readers by Kim Dong Publishing House in 2010.
To date, all nine of Tove Jansson's most outstanding, poetic, and compassionate Moomin works have been published and introduced to Vietnamese readers by Kim Dong Publishing House through eight books: The Witch's Hat , The Invisible Child , The Moomin Family at Sea , The Mysterious Winter , Moomin and the Comet , The Dangerous Summer Solstice , The Amazing Adventures of Moomin Dad , and November in Moomin Valley, translated by Vo Xuan Que and edited by Dr. Bui Viet Hoa.

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first Moomin book, Kim Dong Publishing House, the Finnish Embassy in Vietnam, and The Initiative of Children's Book Creative Content (ICBC) are jointly organizing a global series of events called "Finnish Literature Week - Tove Jansson & Moomins 80" Exhibition.
For the first time in Vietnam, readers of all ages have the opportunity to explore the life of Tove Jansson and the world of Moomin in a captivating and vivid way through impressive exhibitions and a series of educational and creative art activities for all ages. This is a wonderful experience that helps Vietnamese readers, especially children, access a timeless literary heritage of Finland, nurture humanistic values, and develop a love for literature.
The Moomin 80 series of events took place globally with the theme "The Door Is Always Open" to spread a humane message about openness, acceptance, and hospitality in the Moomin world.
"The door is always open" is a familiar image in every home in Moomin Valley, a place where everyone can visit, be listened to, be themselves, and be accepted with all their differences. In that world, family, care, imagination, and a spirit of freedom are always present. The theme of the Moomin 80th Anniversary celebrations not only honors this inclusive lifestyle but also invites all generations to step through the door of imagination, where children can discover themselves and adults can rediscover their dormant gentleness.
