Da Nang youth mobilize to mitigate the consequences of floods and heavy rains.

DNO - Young people in Da Nang have collectively launched a campaign to support people in overcoming the consequences of the prolonged heavy rains and floods that caused severe damage in recent days.

Following the directives of the Director of the Da Nang City Police, immediately after the floodwaters began to recede, the Youth Committee of the Da Nang City Police simultaneously deployed 8 youth volunteer teams to assist in overcoming the consequences of the floods.

The teams mobilized over 400 youth union members and young people to participate; coordinating with the police in communes and wards to organize a general cleanup at schools, offices, and residential areas throughout the district.

At schools severely affected in the communes and wards of Dien Ban, Hoa Tien, Ha Nha, Vu Gia, Xuan Phu, Hoi An Dong, Hoi An Tay, An Thang, Que Phuoc, Nong Son, etc., officers and soldiers proactively coordinated with teachers, local people, and local forces to clean up, clear waterways, and repair facilities.

On October 31st and November 1st, at various locations throughout Da Nang city, more than 1,500 youth union members, students from universities, colleges, and affiliated youth organizations simultaneously mobilized to support the people.

Each school mobilized 200-300 students to form volunteer teams, carrying out various tasks such as: general cleaning at schools, medical facilities, cultural centers, and community centers; assisting in cleaning and repairing houses for families of policy beneficiaries, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and households in difficult circumstances.

On this occasion, the Da Nang City Youth Union, in coordination with the City Labor Federation, the Da Nang Young Entrepreneurs Association, other Youth Union branches, businesses, and philanthropists, donated more than 2,000 gift packages including essential goods, food, and financial support to people in the localities of Go Noi, Dai Loc, Vu Gia, Duy Xuyen, Thu Bon, Hoa Tien, etc.

In addition to emergency relief efforts, youth organizations continue to promote the mobilization of social resources; coordinating with local authorities to ensure the absolute safety of participating forces and the effectiveness of relief work.

On November 1st, members of the Youth Union and students from Da Nang University came to support Huynh Ngoc Hue High School (Dai Loc commune) in overcoming the consequences of the historic floods.

According to Mr. Thai Quang Son, Secretary of the Youth Union of Da Nang University, following directives from the City Youth Union and the Youth Union of Da Nang University, the unit called on students to volunteer in the flood-stricken area of ​​Dai Loc to participate in disaster relief efforts.

Accordingly, 50 students from the Vietnam-UK Institute for Research and Training (Da Nang University) registered to volunteer at Huynh Ngoc Hue High School.

According to Mr. Doan Ngoc Vinh, Principal of Huynh Ngoc Hue High School, the floodwaters deeply submerged classrooms, functional rooms on the ground floor, and the multi-purpose hall. After the floodwaters receded, a thick layer of mud remained, and trash was scattered everywhere.

On October 31st, the school and many students gathered to shovel away the mud and wash the desks and chairs. With the support of the volunteer student group, the school continued its all-out effort to repair the damage, striving to complete the work by November 1st.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dai Loc commune, said that schools from kindergarten to junior high school in the area are focusing on cleaning up after the floods. The local authorities are striving to complete the repairs as soon as possible and welcome students back to school on November 3rd. (CONG TU)
