Before even starting their match, the England team was robbed. |
England's preparations for the 2026 World Cup have run into major problems. According to the Daily Mail , several pairs of boots belonging to England's stars, the official World Cup ball, and some important training equipment have gone missing.
The incident reportedly occurred when the shipment was being transported from West Palm Beach, Florida, to the England team's headquarters in Swope Soccer Village, Missouri, where the team will be based for at least three weeks.
The theft incident forced the coaching staff to urgently check all remaining equipment to ensure the training plan was not affected. However, Coach Tuchel and his players certainly don't want the incident to impact their morale ahead of the crucial match against Croatia.
Croatia has always been a tough opponent for England. The Croatian team even defeated the "Three Lions" in the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, before finishing third in the 2022 World Cup. Therefore, the upcoming opening match is predicted to be a very difficult challenge.
The English Football Association (FA) is currently working with local authorities to investigate and recover the stolen property.
This isn't the first time England has been involved in theft stories at the World Cup. In 1966, the prestigious Jules Rimet trophy was stolen on English soil before being accidentally discovered by a dog named Pickles in a newspaper package and returned to the police. This story later became one of the most famous anecdotes in World Cup history.
Notably, the "Three Lions" have been plagued by incidents on American soil. Prior to this, England's headquarters were shaken by a shooting, as well as a strong 6.1 magnitude earthquake.
