Prime Minister Christopher Luxon assessed that the two countries' relationship has been given new impetus since being upgraded to a Strategic Partnership in 2020; affirmed that Vietnam is one of New Zealand's important partners in Southeast Asia, one of the fastest growing economies in the world and New Zealand's 14th largest trading partner. On the occasion of the visit, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon announced a new aid worth 6,24 million New Zealand dollars to Vietnam's agricultural sector for the "Project to develop high quality fruit varieties (VietFruit )” phase 3, a partnership between the New Zealand Institute of Crops and Food Research with Vietnam to promote Vietnam's passion fruit industry. The two Prime Ministers welcomed the Vietnam-New Zealand Strategic Education Cooperation Plan for the period 2023-2026, creating conditions for cooperation between university-level training institutions between the two countries, supporting Vietnam.
