At Go Dau Stadium in Binh Duong on the evening of March 19th, the Vietnamese national team secured a comfortable 2-1 victory against the Cambodian national team in a FIFA Days international friendly match.
Hai Long opened the scoring for the "Golden Star Warriors" with a beautiful free-kick, and Van Vi doubled the lead in the 35th minute.
After coach Kim Sang Sik substituted Hoang Duc and Quang Hai, Vietnam's midfield weakened, leading to a goal conceded in the 65th minute. Although they created several dangerous opportunities in the final minutes, shots from Van Vi, Chau Ngoc Quang, and Truong Tien Anh were unsuccessful.
This victory gives coach Kim Sang Sik's team a good start ahead of their opening match in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers against Laos, also at Go Dau Stadium.
Moreover, defeating Cambodia helped the Vietnamese national team move up one place in the FIFA rankings. According to Football Ranking, Quang Hai and his teammates gained 2.72 points and rose to 111th position in the FIFA rankings. This number will increase if coach Kim Sang Sik's team continues to defeat Laos in the match on March 25th.
