Entering the final with confidence after previous favorable results, coach Cristiano Roland's players quickly took control of the game, proactively launching attacks from the very first minutes. Meanwhile, the U17 Malaysia team opted for a defensive style with many players behind the ball, focusing on protecting the area in front of their goal.

In the 8th minute, Vietnam U17 created a dangerous opportunity when Sy Bach broke through and shot from a tight angle, the ball hitting the post. However, their relentless pressure was soon rewarded. In the 11th minute, from a corner kick combination, Quy Vuong unleashed a decisive shot, opening the scoring 1-0 for Vietnam U17.

After conceding a goal, the U17 Malaysia team maintained a low defensive line, allowing U17 Vietnam to continue dominating the game. The red-shirted team constantly created threatening situations, especially from set pieces. In the 43rd minute, Nguyen Luc took a dangerous free kick, but the opposing goalkeeper made a timely save.

Vietnam U17's attacking efforts continued to pay off in injury time of the first half. In the 45+4th minute, from a dribble down the left wing, Nguyen Luc assisted Van Duong, who sprinted forward and took a shot; the ball hit the post before going into the net, increasing the score to 2-0.

In the 55th minute, from a quick counter-attack, Tri Dung delivered a perfect cross for Van Duong to finish and score against Malaysia U17. After consulting the referee's assistant technology, the goal was confirmed, increasing the score to 3-0.

With a comfortable lead, the Vietnam U17 team proactively slowed down the pace, maintaining solid ball control and preventing the opponent from creating significant opportunities. For the remainder of the match, the team continued to play proactively, but failed to score any further goals.

In the end, Vietnam U17 won 3-0, convincingly claiming the title at the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship. This marks the team's sixth appearance in the final and their fourth championship title, following victories in 2006, 2010, and 2017.

With this achievement, the Vietnam U17 team officially surpassed its regional rivals to become the most successful team in the history of the tournament.

Besides the team award, the U17 Vietnam players were also honored in individual categories. Midfielder Nguyen Luc was awarded the title of Best Player of the tournament, while goalkeeper Xuan Hoa received the title of Best Goalkeeper.

Following the match, the President of the Vietnam Football Federation, Tran Quoc Tuan, extended his congratulations to the entire team, commending their fighting spirit and noticeable progress. The Vietnam Football Federation leader also emphasized that the team needs to maintain focus and prepare as best as possible for the upcoming 2026 AFC U17 Championship Finals.

Winning the regional championship is not only a well-deserved result of thorough preparation, but also an important stepping stone for the Vietnam U17 team to aim for higher goals on the continental stage.
