USD/VND reaches new record high, up more than 4% since the beginning of the year.

During the morning trading session on August 22nd, the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong against the US Dollar was listed by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) at a record high of 25,298 VND/USD, an increase of 25 VND compared to the previous trading session.

Compared to the end of July, the central exchange rate has increased by 70 dong. Compared to the beginning of the year, the central exchange rate has seen a net increase of nearly 4%.

With a fluctuation margin of +/- 5% relative to the central exchange rate, the floor/ceiling exchange rates that commercial banks are allowed to trade today are 24,033 VND/USD and 26,562 VND/USD respectively.

The reference exchange rate at the State Bank of Vietnam's exchange floor has been raised to 24,084 - 26,512 VND/USD.

At commercial banks, the volume of USD sales has also been raised to the ceiling allowed by the State Bank of Vietnam.

Vietcombank is currently listing the buying and selling price of the US dollar at 26,212 - 26,562 VND/USD, an increase of 26 VND compared to August 20th. Compared to the beginning of the year, the USD/VND exchange rate at Vietcombank has increased by more than 4%.

VietinBank and BIDV are also listing their selling prices. foreign currency This is at the ceiling rate set by the State Bank of Vietnam at 26,562 VND/USD. On the buying side, VietinBank is pegged at 26,249 VND/USD and BIDV is pegged at 25,193 VND/USD.

Besides state-owned banks, major private banks such as Techcombank, ACB, MB, HDBank, Eximbank, SHB, VPBank, and Sacombank also simultaneously raised the selling price of USD to the maximum allowed by the State Bank of Vietnam, at 26,562 VND/USD.

On the free market, the USD price also recorded an increase of 30 dong in both buying and selling rates. Currently, foreign exchange bureaus in Hanoi are trading the US dollar at a common rate of 26,563 - 26,648 dong/USD (buy - sell), an increase of approximately... 40 USD compared to the previous trading session. This is also the highest price ever recorded in this market.

On the global market, the USD price fell slightly. The USD Index – a measure of the dollar's strength – rose 0.02 points to 98.6 points. The USD price fluctuated cautiously ahead of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's speech at the Jackson Hole conference today.
