V-League: The Cong Viettel draws dramatically with Ninh Binh.
Despite playing with ten men for the entire second half, The Cong Viettel still managed a 1-1 draw against Ninh Binh in Round 21 of the V-League 2025-2026.

On the evening of May 3rd, the highlight match of Round 21 of the V-League 2025-2026 took place between The Cong Viettel and Ninh Binh. Both The Cong Viettel and Ninh Binh proactively pushed their attacking formations high up the field right after the opening whistle.

The first notable opportunity belonged to the visiting team, Ninh Binh. Unfortunately, Friday's skillful turn and shot from outside the penalty area hit the crossbar of The Cong Viettel's goal before bouncing out.
Having narrowly avoided conceding a goal, The Cong Viettel immediately responded with a powerful shot from Paulo Tapeu. However, the foreign player's strike went slightly over the Ninh Binh goal.
As the first half progressed, the match became increasingly exciting with both teams exchanging attacks. In the 14th minute, Ninh Binh launched a well-coordinated attack, crossing the ball into the penalty area for Pham Gia Hung to unleash a powerful shot from close range, but goalkeeper Van Viet made a timely save for The Cong Viettel.
In the 21st minute, Ninh Binh launched a quick counter-attack. Quoc Viet had a chance to shoot but was saved by goalkeeper Van Viet. The ball rebounded, and Truong Tien Anh rushed in to take a shot but still couldn't beat the The Cong Viettel goalkeeper.
Despite having opportunities but failing to score, Ninh Binh paid a heavy price. In the 27th minute, following a careless cross from a teammate, goalkeeper Van Lam was forced to rush out and foul Khuat Van Khang inside the penalty area, resulting in a penalty for the visiting team. From the penalty spot, Lucao's initial shot was saved by Van Lam, but Van Khang was quick to score on the rebound, finding the back of the net.
After conceding a goal, Ninh Binh continued to push forward in attack and created many scoring opportunities, but failed to capitalize on them. Most notably, Pham Gia Hung missed a chance when facing the The Cong Viettel goalkeeper.
In the 45+3 minute, Nguyen Duc Hoang Minh committed a very dangerous foul on Thanh Thinh of Ninh Binh and received a direct red card from the referee.

With the advantage of playing with an extra man, Ninh Binh proactively pressed high up the field in The Cong Viettel's half, creating significant pressure on their opponents. After many attempts, the team from the ancient capital finally found an equalizer in the 55th minute thanks to a beautiful long-range shot by Dung Quang Nho.
With the equalizer, the Ninh Binh players seemed to shed their pressure and played much more freely. Meanwhile, coach Popov instructed his players to drop deep, forming a two-layered defense in front of goalkeeper Van Viet's goal.
Although Ninh Binh created several scoring opportunities, they were unable to capitalize on them. Ultimately, the match between The Cong Viettel and Ninh Binh ended in a 1-1 draw.
This result helps The Cong Viettel maintain second place in the standings with 43 points. Meanwhile, Ninh Binh has 38 points and is in fourth place.
