Ho Chi Minh City Police FC put in a valiant effort and drew 1-1 with Ninh Binh in Round 24 of the V-League 2025-2026.

On the evening of May 23rd, Ninh Binh faced Ho Chi Minh City Police FC in Round 24 of the V-League 2025/26. Both teams aimed for three points to improve their standings, starting proactively and creating an exciting match.

In the 3rd minute, following a pass from a teammate, Hoang Duc immediately unleashed a low shot from the edge of the penalty area. However, the ball was too weak and failed to beat goalkeeper Le Giang.
Immediately afterwards, Ho Chi Minh City Police FC responded. Lee Willian broke down the right flank and unleashed a powerful shot, forcing goalkeeper Van Lam to push the ball away. Ngoc Long then rushed in for the rebound but was unsuccessful.
In the 11th minute, Ninh Binh had another excellent opportunity to open the scoring, but Geovane's volley was pushed over the crossbar by goalkeeper Le Giang. Two minutes later, Gustavo collided with goalkeeper Le Giang inside the penalty area, and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. However, after checking VAR, the referee overturned the decision.
For their part, Ho Chi Minh City Police FC also had some very clear opportunities to open the scoring. In the 26th minute, Lee Williams broke down the left wing and crossed the ball into the box for Ngoc Long to tap it in from close range, putting the ball into the Ninh Binh net. However, the goal was disallowed because the Vietnamese-born player was offside beforehand.
In the 29th minute, after Hai Duc missed a clearance, Lee Williams passed the ball back from the right wing for Makrillos to run onto and shoot, but Van Lam managed to dive and make the save.
In the final minutes of the first half, both teams created several more good scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize on them. And just when everyone thought the match would end in a draw after the first 45 minutes, a surprise occurred.
In the 40th minute, Ninh Binh won the ball on the left wing. Geovane delivered a dangerous cross into the box, and Gustavo rose high to head the ball into the top corner of the net, beating goalkeeper Le Giang.

After the break, the pace of the game slowed down. However, both teams still created clear opportunities to score more goals.
In the 58th minute, Raphael received the ball on the right wing, cut into the center, and unleashed a shot towards the near corner, but goalkeeper Van Lam made a diving save. In the 75th minute, Lee Williams broke free unmarked and headed the ball over the crossbar.
Conversely, Ninh Binh also had favorable opportunities to double their lead. In the 85th minute, following a clearance from a teammate, Geovane broke through past Hoang Phuc. However, before he could take a shot, goalkeeper Le Giang rushed out and closed the angle in time.
Towards the end of the match, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club almost completely pushed forward to attack with a nothing-to-lose attitude. After many attempts to dominate the game, the police team finally got what they needed.
In the 90+5th minute, Lee Williams headed the ball against the post. Immediately afterwards, he rushed in to volley the ball into the net, securing a 1-1 draw against Ninh Binh.
