Mourinho wants to overhaul Real Madrid's squad. |
AS reports that all agreements between Mourinho and Real Madrid are almost complete. The Portuguese manager is reportedly set to sign a two-year contract, with an option to extend for another season if he leads the team to win La Liga. However, the entire plan is currently stalled due to the presidential election at the Bernabeu.
The source also stated that Mourinho had thoroughly analyzed Real Madrid's squad after the final stages of the season and identified several positions needing reinforcement. His top priority is the defense, where Real could recruit one or two more central defenders, along with a quality right-back. Additionally, Mourinho also wants to add a left-back should Fran Garcia leave the team.

Besides the defense, the midfield is also an area of particular interest to Mourinho. The former Benfica coach wants Real Madrid to bring in a new defensive midfielder to compete with and support Aurelien Tchouameni. At the same time, he also requested the addition of a creative midfielder with a similar style to Fredrik Aursnes, Mourinho's former pupil at Benfica.
According to the Portuguese strategist, Real Madrid currently lacks a player capable of controlling the midfield and creating breakthroughs. Meanwhile, the attacking line is not a priority for transfers as the team already possesses many quality stars.
Although Mourinho hasn't specifically suggested any names, Real Madrid's management understands that the current squad needs significant changes. However, the club also recognizes that to bring in new players, they need to offload some. Defenders David Alaba and Dani Carvajal have both left the club after their contracts expired, while Dani Ceballos and Eduardo Camavinga also face the risk of being sold this summer.
