People in Luc Ngan district harvest lychees for about a month, starting in June, and this is currently a busy time for selling the fruit.

Due to the nature of the fabric, which needs to be sold early in the morning to maintain its beauty and quality, people bring it to market before sunrise.

On National Highway 31, passing through Tan Hoa commune, Luc Ngan district, hundreds of motorbikes were stuck in a massive traffic jam due to lychee trees. Because there is an alternative route, the traffic congestion on this road does not affect the overall traffic situation in the area.

From an aerial perspective, convoys of trucks carrying lychees through Tan Hoa commune create a distinctive "red hue" characteristic of Luc Ngan's lychee season. This is also the time that attracts many traders and tourists to buy and visit, creating a bustling scene.

"These days, people wake up very early to harvest and transport lychees to sell. Along National Highway 31, there are many lychee purchasing points. When they reach a weighing station with a suitable price, they sell," said Mr. Tran Tuan. This is a characteristic way of trading agricultural products in the lychee-growing region. Lychee weighing points run by both Vietnamese and Chinese traders are spread from the beginning of Luc Ngan district to the district center to facilitate transportation, processing, and packaging for export to China, so people are forced to bring their lychees to these weighing points.

Trucks loaded with lychees moved slowly along National Highway 31. At each purchasing point, sellers were given a receipt indicating the price the store wanted to buy them for. Currently, the price of lychees ranges from 9,000 to 20,000 VND per kilogram, depending on the variety and quality.

The lychees, once weighed at the point of sale, are immediately dumped into ice chests and then placed in styrofoam containers to keep them fresh before being transported for sale, making it difficult to purchase them directly from the orchards.

Local authorities and police were present to regulate traffic and help the fabric sell quickly.

Lychees grown in Luc Ngan are different from those grown elsewhere; the fruit here is bright red, has plenty of flesh, small seeds, is sweet, and has a distinctive aroma.

Luc Ngan district, considered the "lychee capital" of Northern Vietnam, has digitized its concentrated lychee production areas with 88 planting area codes, ensuring compliance with the conditions for official export to China, the US, Australia, the EU, Japan, and Thailand.

In 2023, the total lychee growing area in Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province) was over 17,300 hectares (an increase of more than 1,600 hectares compared to 2022), with an estimated production of approximately 98,000 tons. Of this, 13,200 hectares were cultivated according to VietGAP standards, yielding about 81,300 tons.
