Diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) culture is not only an inevitable trend but also one of the goals PNJ pursues on the journey of sustainable development.


DE&I is an important element in sustainable development

In the context of globalization and increasingly deep economic integration, aiming for a DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) working environment has become one of the key factors determining the success and sustainable development of an organization.

"Magnet" to attract talent

A work environment that emphasizes DE&I will be a "magnet" to attract and retain talent, promote creativity, improve work performance and create a positive image for the business. In Vietnam, some units have been trying to find ways to "implant" this culture into the "gene" of the business.

At the Ceremony to announce sustainable enterprises in Vietnam in 2024 organized by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) with the focal point being the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), PNJ and other pioneering enterprises in building and implementing diversity, equity and inclusion were honored.

In particular, PNJ is mentioned as a pioneer enterprise with continuous efforts in creating a DE&I culture, and at the same time marking 9 consecutive years in the top 10 sustainable enterprises in the trade - service sector.

Over the years, the company has conducted stakeholder consultation activities in developing ESG (Environmental - Social - Governance) commitments. At the same time, the unit decided to identify DE&I as one of 12 key areas of ESG practice.

"We create a diverse, fair and harmonious environment in the business by listening to and respecting differences, empowering responsibility, encouraging opportunity and recognizing merit," the company representative shared.

Female workforce at PNJ accounts for 60%, also the majority of customers are female.

All characteristics among members of an organization such as age, gender, personality, religion, geographical location, occupation, qualifications, experience as well as role in the organization... all have their own beauty and are always honored.

It is known that the proportion of female employees in the company accounts for over 60%, at the management level over 57%, in senior leadership 40%. It is this gender diversity that has created the premise for the company to take advantage of diverse perspectives, thereby making decision-making processes richer and more trustworthy.

All employees are given the opportunity to learn and develop, with equal income and promotion opportunities.

PNJ cares for its staff in many aspects such as mental health, social connection, financial sustainability... through employee welfare programs. The unit focuses on developing human resources through talent management strategies and activities that encourage learning and improvement of individuals and organizations.

This has created a working environment where all employees, regardless of differences, are respected, appreciated and contribute fully to the company.

The company representative added: "In the governance system, the company does not separate but integrates all three ESG factors. We make and commit to the statement: the company acts responsibly to honor the beauty of people and life in a sustainable way."

PNJ implements the Happy Young Family program to accompany young Vietnamese families on the journey of building and nurturing marriage.

In addition to promoting internal culture, the company also constantly spreads a culture of diversity, fairness, and harmony to customers and the community. Through meaningful activities that bring value to the community such as: "Connecting Warm Hands" program, "Zero-VND Mini Supermarket" series, "Companionship for Childbirth" program, "Happy Young Family" project, etc.

PNJ's community footprint in recent times is a pioneering business model with many specific and practical activities and is a clear demonstration of the comprehensive and balanced implementation of all three ESG pillars in the sustainable development strategy.
