From building a healthy cultural environment and promoting heritage values to developing culture in politics and economics, Dong Nai is striving to transform culture into a spiritual foundation and endogenous driving force for sustainable development in the new era.

Building a healthy and modern cultural environment from the grassroots level.

Dong Nai possesses outstanding advantages and resources. Over the past period, the city has developed rapidly and comprehensively, forming a multi-centered economic and urban space, closely linked to development corridors and major economic centers. Alongside this, Dong Nai has also developed a harmonious cultural life, placing people at the center, building a friendly, compassionate, civilized, and modern Dong Nai citizenry.

According to Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Loan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, City Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism: “In recent years, the Movement for National Unity in Building a Culturally Rich Life has been widely implemented, attracting the active participation of all strata of the people and achieving many remarkable results. Annually, over 90% of hamlets, neighborhoods, and villages meet cultural standards, and over 95% of households meet cultural standards. The system of cultural and sports facilities in the city has been invested in, built, and put into use, effectively exploiting and promoting its activities. Tangible and intangible cultural heritage is rich and diverse with many forms, widely distributed throughout the 95 communes and wards in the city.”

In many communes and wards, community cultural, artistic, and sports activities are increasingly being organized more regularly. According to Bui Hong Lam, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Long Phuoc commune, for many years the locality has developed the mass sports movement and physical education, meeting the requirements of national construction and defense. Currently, the commune has 15 businesses and sports activities, dozens of aerobic, folk dance, and yoga clubs, along with many performing arts and traditional music groups regularly operating at 14 village cultural centers.

According to Hoang Thuy Vu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc Ward: Currently, the ward has cultural centers in all 37 neighborhoods, 9 multi-purpose sports halls, 13 parks and gardens, and 2 squares. Based on effectively utilizing available resources, the local authorities directly manage, exploit, and organize activities at these facilities in a synchronized and efficient manner, consistent with the two-tiered local government model. This effectively meets the growing needs of the people for community activities, physical training, and cultural and spiritual enjoyment.

“Binh Phuoc Ward currently has one national historical site, the Dong Xoai Victory Site; and 13 parks and mini-parks. The ward has created video clips introducing the historical sites and promoting the image of the people, events, and destinations of the ward. The entire ward maintains 41 cultural and artistic clubs and 67 sports clubs; the percentage of people regularly practicing physical exercise and sports reaches 40%, and the percentage of families participating in sports reaches nearly 39%,” Ms. Vu shared.

Besides focusing on building community cultural life, Dong Nai also pays special attention to educating students on cultural conduct in schools. The effective implementation of the code of conduct in schools, linked to building school culture and creating a green, clean, beautiful, safe, and healthy educational environment, is considered a crucial foundation for shaping a new generation of citizens with ethics, life skills, and a sense of responsibility towards the community.

Simultaneously, the city also focuses on building a culture within the economy, in which entrepreneurs, workers, and laborers are truly the subjects whose comprehensive development is ensured and who have the conditions to promote initiative and creativity. The goal is to build a workforce with the necessary skills and qualifications for integration, expand cultural cooperation, deepen cultural diplomacy, and achieve practical results; while selectively absorbing the best of world culture and promoting the image of Dong Nai's land and people.

Preserving cultural identity and achieving sustainable development in the process of integration.

With a history spanning nearly 330 years, Dong Nai possesses a rich treasure trove of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, bearing the distinct mark of the ancient Tran Bien region – now Dong Nai. In the context of globalization, preserving and promoting these heritage values not only contributes to safeguarding local identity but also opens up opportunities for developing cultural tourism and promoting the local image.

According to Nguyen Ngoc Yen, Director of the Dong Nai Museum, over the years, the museum has collaborated with relevant units to publish many valuable publications and produce documentary films introducing the relics, festivals, and traditional crafts of the ethnic groups living in Dong Nai city to showcase the local cultural heritage. In addition, the museum has digitized 2D versions of books such as "Archaeology of Dong Nai" and "Binh Da Stone Musical Instruments," and digitized national monument ranking records currently held at the museum to support research and exploitation.

During the period 2026-2030, Dong Nai strives to ensure that 100% of commune-level cultural and sports facilities have designated areas for recreation, entertainment, and sports for children and the elderly. Over 80% of grassroots cultural and sports facilities will utilize digital technology or organize cultural and sports competitions and events online.

Many historical and cultural relics and scenic spots in Dong Nai city have been gradually invested in, restored, renovated, and upgraded, applying digital technology such as: implementing 360-degree virtual reality tours of relics; using data to create GIS maps of archaeological sites; and producing 3D publications introducing relics. In particular, artifacts belonging to Dong Nai's national treasures have been completely digitized in 3D, serving research, conservation, and online presentation purposes. Among them, the Loc Hoa stone musical instrument set has had its entire electronic file digitized in 3D, including photographs, descriptions, information on the material, age, origin, and preservation condition.

Along with heritage preservation, Dong Nai also focuses on developing literature and art, considering it an important area in building the spiritual life of society. Many policies supporting artists' creativity have been implemented, encouraging works that reflect the history and culture of the nation, and the renewal of the homeland and the country. In addition to maintaining annual cultural and artistic awards and festivals, performances, and competitions, the city also organizes the Trinh Hoai Duc Cultural and Artistic Award (every 5 years). This creates motivation for artists to continue creating, contributing to promoting the image of the people of Dong Nai.

Integration presents an opportunity for Dong Nai to access the finest aspects of human culture, while also requiring the preservation and promotion of traditional values. With a development orientation that harmonizes economy and culture, modernity and tradition, Dong Nai is gradually building a healthy cultural environment, promoting heritage values, accelerating the application of digital technology, and improving the spiritual life of its people, contributing to the development of an advanced Vietnamese culture rich in national identity.
