- After the merger, Van Nham commune faced numerous challenges, from completing infrastructure to overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. However, with the proactive efforts of the Party committee and government, and the unity of the people, the commune is gradually realizing its goal of achieving the new rural standard in the 2026-2030 period.

Van Nham commune was established by merging three communes: Nhat Tien, Minh Tien, and Van Nham. Before the merger, all three communes were recognized as achieving New Rural Area standards. Ms. Vy Thuy Thanh, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Van Nham commune, said: "The fact that the three communes were already recognized as achieving New Rural Area standards before the merger is a favorable condition and an important basis for Van Nham commune to soon achieve the goal of achieving New Rural Area standards. To implement the New Rural Area construction, on the one hand, the commune continues to promote propaganda and mobilize the joint efforts of the people to maintain and consolidate the criteria already achieved. On the other hand, it continues to review and carefully assess the current status of each criterion, thereby building a plan, roadmap, and allocating specific resources to implement the criteria."
Specifically, immediately after the merger (July 2025), through a review, the commune had achieved 16 out of 19 criteria for New Rural Development according to the national criteria for New Rural Development in the 2021-2025 period. Currently, compared with the new criteria for the 2026-2030 period, the commune self-assesses that it has achieved 3 out of 10 criteria. After a preliminary assessment of the criteria, the Party Committee and the government of Van Nham commune determined that the entire political system of the commune and the people need to decisively implement solutions to gradually achieve the unmet criteria, while simultaneously maintaining the criteria already achieved.
Regarding criteria requiring state investment resources, while awaiting allocation from higher levels, the Commune People's Committee proactively balanced and integrated resources to upgrade and supplement the infrastructure of two schools with a total investment of approximately 3 billion VND; provided 500 tons of cement to support people in building rural roads; and provided 315 million VND to villages to supplement cultural facilities at village cultural centers…
Besides gradually investing in and strengthening infrastructure, the People's Committee of Van Nham commune is focusing on supporting people in restoring production after the heavy damage caused by floods at the end of 2025. Ms. Linh Thu Huong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Nham commune, said: Immediately after the floods passed, the People's Committee of the commune, together with relevant units, conducted on-site inspections, guided technical measures to overcome the consequences, and gradually stabilized production in concentrated crop growing areas such as rice, pomelo, jicama, custard apple, etc. At the same time, the People's Committee of the commune provided over 300 million VND to help people buy rice seeds for production…
Following the merger (July 2025), after review, Van Nham commune has met 16 out of 19 criteria for New Rural Development according to the national criteria for New Rural Development in the 2021-2025 period. Currently, compared with the new criteria for the 2026-2030 period, the commune self-assesses that it has met 3 out of 10 criteria. |
With support from the State, people have more opportunities to promote production development. Mr. Dang Xuan Tinh, Party Secretary and Head of Minh Le village, Van Nham commune, shared: In 2025, flooding caused significant damage to agricultural production in the village. In response, the State provided rice seeds to help people cultivate the spring crop, covering an area of about 15 hectares. To date, the rice plants are growing and developing well. We hope for a bountiful harvest this season so that people can stabilize their lives.
Alongside government support, people in Van Nham commune have proactively implemented solutions to maintain and strengthen the criteria for New Rural Development, such as participating in spring clean-up campaigns and environmental sanitation activities. Since the beginning of 2026 alone, residents in the commune have contributed approximately 8,000 man-hours of labor; dredged and cleared 32 km of canals; cleared and cleaned 70 km of village roads and alleys; and repaired nearly 2 km of rural roads. Mr. Hoang Van Van, from Tan Nhien village, Van Nham commune, said: "We benefit from building New Rural Development, don't we? So my whole family encouraged each other to lend a hand. From sweeping the road in front of our house to contributing labor to repair the damaged road after the flood, seeing our rural area brighter, greener, and cleaner, we are all very happy."
With the solutions that have been and are being actively implemented by the Party Committee, the government, and the people, it is believed that the implementation of the New Rural Development program in Van Nham commune will achieve significant results in the coming time. Through this, the commune is determined to soon complete the goals to achieve the New Rural Development standard in the 2026-2030 period as planned.
