The people of Son Cam Ha commune are busy preparing these days, with everything ready for the Ky Yen Festival in Hoi An village. This is the first festival of the commune after the merger, so all the villages are preparing to bring their most characteristic agricultural products to introduce to visitors from near and far.
To produce the best quality mugwort starch, sam starch, and cakes made from mugwort and sam starch, Ms. Tran Thi Minh Thuan (village 5) chose to buy mugwort and sam roots from the beginning of March 2026 to process and grind them into powder. Along with other villagers, during this festival, Ms. Thuan will display and sell these high-quality products made by her own hands. Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang's family (village 3) regularly makes banh chung, banh u, and banh tet (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) for sale. Now that the festival is here, the family has increased manpower to make more cakes to display and sell to visitors.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chi, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Son Cam Ha commune, the Farmers' Association was assigned to preside over the stalls displaying agricultural products. Accordingly, 20 villages of Son Cam Ha commune participated, displaying 20 stalls showcasing the most typical agricultural products.

In addition, neighboring communes including Tien Phuoc, Thanh Binh, Lanh Ngoc, Duy Xuyen, Tra Van, Tay Ho, Viet An, and Hoi An ward are also participating with stalls at the festival showcasing their characteristic products. Mr. Chi said: “The locality is decorating the stalls in preparation for the festival, and the villages participating in the exhibition have also prepared their products. The people of the entire commune are participating very actively and have made the most thorough preparations to contribute to the success of the festival and introduce the most characteristic products of Son Cam Ha to tourists.”
The Ky Yen ceremony is the most distinctive part of the festival. To date, the commune has mobilized 32 cultural clans in the area, each sending two representatives to participate in the procession carrying the sacred relics from the house of the clan leader Nguyen Dinh Tuan to the village temple in Hoi An for the main sacrificial ceremony.
In addition, other activities such as organizing food stalls, the opening art program of the festival with the theme "Son Cam Ha - Proud of Tradition, Steadfastly Moving Towards the Future," the traditional folk singing performance, and preparations for the unveiling of the O Waterfall scenic plaque... are all being meticulously prepared by the commune.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Cam Ha commune, said: "The commune is actively preparing the best for the activities at the festival, hoping to satisfy visitors from near and far. In addition, experiential activities such as visiting orchards, ancient houses, and the O Waterfall will be introduced to tourists so they can have memorable experiences when coming to Son Cam Ha, laying a good foundation for the development of eco-tourism and experiential activities in the commune."
