Beach tourism, sports tourism "dominate the airwaves"

“Most individuals and organizations choose beach tourism , 9 out of 10 tours are beach tours, mainly to Nha Trang and Da Nang. Since the beginning of summer, the company has had dozens of beach-going vehicles, the majority of which are group guests,” said Mr. Le Chi Nguyen, Director of Tay Nguyen Xanh Tourism One Member Co., Ltd. (alley 119 Wuu, Pleiku City). According to Mr. Nguyen, the company's group guests are mainly from schools, agencies, and organizations with the need to relax and connect with the collective spirit.

Having just returned from Phu Yen after a 2-day-1-night trip with the teachers of Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School (Thong Nhat Ward, Pleiku City), Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong said: The group has about 40 people, including teachers and relatives who registered to go together. The cost of the trip was partly supported by the Trade Union Fund, the rest was contributed by the members.

Famous destinations such as Ganh Da Dia, Nhan Tower, Mui Dien, Hon Nua... were not the first time to check-in, but the collective atmosphere still made the trip very memorable thanks to the fun, solidarity, and attachment. Ms. Huong added that her family members also plan to organize a summer trip to Da Nang in early July.

Talking to reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang - Director of Dai Ngan Tourism and Event Services Company Limited (207 Hoang Quoc Viet, Pleiku City) said: Along with the trend of spontaneous tourism, many individuals and organizations have turned to buying tours because of the conveniences such as being fully taken care of in terms of travel, accommodation, not having to worry about the destination, and having tour insurance but the cost is still quite reasonable.

“For example, a 3-day, 2-night tour to Nha Trang, staying at a 4-star hotel, costs an average of 3.2 million VND/person. Some tourists are afraid that going on a tour will be limited in time, but in reality, the schedule is not rigid and can be changed depending on the needs of the whole group,” Ms. Trang said.

As running gradually becomes a sport that attracts the interest of many people, sports tourism is also a priority, especially in the summer. Many families register to participate in the race and experience a memorable trip.

Ms. Pham Thi Minh Hieu - a member of Gia Lai Marathon Club - shared: From June 6 to 8, she and her son Le Nam Phong participated in the Da Lat Music Night Run held in Da Lat City (Lam Dong). This is a unique sports event combined with music. Accordingly, runners ran around Xuan Huong Lake while enjoying vibrant music, bringing an emotional experience.

Ms. Hieu stated her plan: After her son finishes the 5km distance and she finishes the 21km distance, she will arrange to take her son to visit Cu Lan Village located at the foot of Langbiang Mountain (Lac Duong District, Lam Dong Province) so that he can immerse himself in nature and learn about cultural identity. "I think sports tourism is a great form of tourism while participating in my favorite sport," Ms. Hieu said.

Mr. Vu Dinh Huan - Teacher at Kpa Klong Secondary School (Ha Bau Commune, Dak Doa District) also said: On June 15, he and his wife will participate in the VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon 2025, combined with taking their 2 children on a trip because they love the sea.

“Wherever there is a race, I prioritize it over other places. For example, in the summer of 2023, my whole family chose to travel to Nha Trang to participate in the race held here,” said Mr. Huan.

In addition to the domestic tourism trend, some units also choose foreign tours as worthy rewards for officers and employees during the summer.

Ms. Tran Thi Thao Ngan - Deputy Director of MBBank Gia Lai - informed: Since the beginning of summer, the unit has organized a total of 3 domestic and international tours for managers and employees. She herself joined the group to China for 5 days, visiting famous destinations such as Shanghai, Wuzhen, and Hangzhou.

Ms. Ngan said: "This is the Bank's annual incentive policy, helping people relax and restore their labor force after a year of hard work and pressure, thereby working more effectively and staying longer."

Cool summer in the middle of the forest

While many localities across the country are struggling under the sweltering heat of summer, Gia Lai offers a contrasting choice: cool climate, pristine nature and diverse terrain, ideal for outdoor experiences. Therefore, Gia Lai also attracts a large number of visitors even though the tourist season coincides with the rainy season in the highlands.

Many tourists from hot and humid climates such as Ho Chi Minh City, the Central region or the Northern Delta expressed their delight in experiencing nature amidst the cool, peaceful weather of the mountain town of Pleiku and its surrounding areas.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Do (a tourist from Thai Binh) excitedly shared: “I have been to the Central Highlands several times before on business trips and was very impressed with the cool air in the middle of summer. Everywhere I went, I was filled with the green of trees and mountains. Now that I am retired, I have the opportunity to return and that feeling is still intact.

My husband and I joined a 5-day, 4-night tour through the provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, and Dak Lak. Everyone enjoyed the pleasant climate, delicious food, and majestic scenery. Sitting on the bus and admiring the scenery was also enjoyable. It was truly a vacation in the middle of the great wilderness.”

Not only attractive to adults, summer in Gia Lai is also a vibrant season for tours for children. Thanks to the rich terrain with green forests, high mountains, and majestic waterfalls, this place becomes a "natural playground" for children to practice physical exercise, explore nature, and develop life skills.

As a unit specializing in exploiting discovery and experience tours, Discovery Gia Lai Company Limited is currently welcoming a large number of summer guests, especially families and students. Recently, the Company organized an experience trip for a group of "young" tourists including 12 students from Hanoi.

The children were guided to learn about the culture at community tourism villages in Gia Lai and Kon Tum before embarking on a journey to conquer K50 waterfall (Kbang district). Immediately after, the group continued to challenge themselves by climbing Chu Nam peak (Chu Pah district), 1,472 m above sea level.

These challenging yet intimate experiences not only bring joy, but also help children develop willpower, teamwork skills and a connection with nature, which is difficult to achieve on regular vacations.

Mr. Tran Van Tuan - representative of Discovery Gia Lai Company - said: "Summer camp tour combined with life skills is a special product of the Company every summer. This is a type of tourism that is both educational and exciting for children. More and more parents, instead of choosing to relax, take their children to experience nature so that they can have more valuable practical lessons."

In June, the unit continued to welcome a number of groups of visitors from Ho Chi Minh City and some neighboring provinces, mainly families bringing their children to Gia Lai to trek in forests, waterfalls, explore national parks and nature reserves.

Mr. Cao Huyen Tuan Anh - Owner of Tien Son Pleiku homestay - said: The booking rate at the homestay in the summer is always high, sometimes even "full of rooms". This shows that summer is absolutely not the low season for tourism in Gia Lai.

According to Mr. Tuan Anh, most tourists coming to Gia Lai today still travel independently, without going through travel agencies, especially those from the northern provinces. They often choose to travel in groups of family or friends, combining exploring the Central Highlands provinces, including Gia Lai.

“If there are more attractive summer tourism products, along with more professional services, I believe that Gia Lai will gradually affirm its own appeal and rise strongly on the Vietnam tourism map” - Owner of Tien Son Pleiku homestay commented.
