In the movie Heart Rescue Station, Quang Su plays Nghia - the husband of the female lead Ngan Ha (Hong Diem). According to the script, Nghia has a deep hatred for Mr. Trong - Ngan Ha's father, so he tries to approach her.
To carry out his revenge plan, Nghia did not hesitate to sacrifice his peaceful life. Even though he had a wife and children, this character still decided to marry Ngan Ha and then secretly gave her birth control pills. Even worse, Nghia also enticed his first wife, An Nhien (Luong Thu Trang), to carry out his revenge plan.
The segment shows Nghia's "two-faced" and pitiful nature.
The scenes where Nghia was both sweet with Ngan Ha and came to celebrate her stepson's birthday, and boldly promised to make up for An Nhien and her mother after the plan was completed, made the audience very upset. Not only did Nghia think the script was too dark and absurd, Nghia's character was also considered the most despicable husband on Vietnamese screen.
Quang Su also knew that the character Nghia would receive mixed reactions from the audience. He once affirmed that he was not worried about the audience's reaction and always believed that the public would not "transmit anger" to him because of his character.
However, on his personal page, Quang Su continuously posted statuses to appease the audience. When the audience wondered about the medicine Nghia gave Ngan Ha to drink, the actor wryly shared that it was just "wheat flour and tapioca starch" prepared by the props.
When the relationship between Nghia and An Nhien was clearly shown, in response to the public's frustration, Quang Su posted a status line reassuring everyone that the film was only in the first episodes, there were still many unsolved questions. so it seems impossible to evaluate the character or be angry with the screenplay.
Many viewers who were upset with the character Nghia went to Quang Su's personal page to leave quite harsh comments. Faced with this reaction, Quang Su humorously replied: "If people mistakenly send bricks and stones to Quang Su, I'll probably try to accept them and send them back to Nghia."
He also said that it was not easy for him to play the role of Nghia: “It's Nghia, I or anyone else can accept it, living that double-faced life is very tiring. I've only tried playing the role and experiencing Nghia's life for a few months, but I'm very tired."
Quang Su also apologized on behalf of the character for bringing negative emotions to the audience: "I, on behalf of Nghia, apologize to everyone for causing a lot of frustration and negative emotions to the audience."
Previously, in an interview about the character Nghia, Quang Su revealed: "Mean is not completely a villain, all of his actions stem from "knots" in the past. When all the "knots" are exposed, I believe the audience can sympathize with Nghia."
He also commented that the audience's angry reaction to the character is a good sign: “I think that me playing movie scenes that make the audience hate me proves that I have succeeded. I also believe that most audiences will clearly distinguish between actor Quang Su and character Nghia."
