Cars parked indiscriminately on recently renovated sidewalks have compromised their quality. Previously, the Hanoi Department of Construction had requested the People's Committees of districts, counties, and towns to conduct inspections, reviews, and assessments to address the damage and deterioration of sidewalks. This included a requirement to strictly penalize vehicles parked on sidewalks and to remove unauthorized parking areas on sidewalks to prevent damage and public inconvenience.

Inspections conducted by the Department of Construction in several inner-city districts revealed that the management, use, and maintenance of sidewalks after investment in some streets are not up to standard.
