On the evening of June 6 in Hanoi, Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide (Michelin Guide) announced the first Michelin-starred restaurants in Vietnam. In this first time, 6 Vietnamese restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City were selected and starred by Michelin.
Mr. Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of Michelin Guide said: “We are very proud to have completed the list of the first Michelin Guide restaurants in Vietnam, including 103 restaurants, including 4 restaurants with one Michelin Star. This list clearly reflects the differences and culinary richness of the two cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the first time restaurants in Vietnam have been awarded a Michelin star or appear in the manual. From December 1, 12, appraisers went to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to find the best restaurants. They are experienced people in the field of cuisine, restaurant services, hotels, skilled chefs, from 2022 countries.
Michelin star restaurants are independently evaluated by anonymous assessors, according to worldwide standards, based on 5 criteria: food quality, cooking talent, taste harmony, chef's personality reflected in dishes, consistency of dishes over time and across the menu.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of Michelin Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Nguyen Vu Quynh Anh - General Director of Sun Hospitality Group (a resort brand of Sun Group) shared: "From the list announced by Michelin today, a new culinary destination of the world named Vietnam will be spread to global tourists. The foundation for the new development of not only the cuisine, but also of Vietnam's tourism industry in general, will also be built from today. This historic milestone has just been established and the next journey, for Vietnam to have more Michelin awards in the future, will need a lot of efforts. But with the presence of the Michelin Guide, the efforts of chefs and people working in the culinary industry across Vietnam, we believe that very soon, Vietnam will be a high-class culinary destination that every international tourist needs to visit once in a lifetime."
Nguyen Trung Khanh - Director General of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism emphasized: "With the recognition of Michelin coming to Vietnam, which has had a very strict appraisal process, today's announcement of restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to be associated with the Michelin brand will be a huge turning point for all Vietnamese restaurants, creating a brand to welcome tourists, especially international guests."

According to the leader of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the fact that Vietnamese restaurants are awarded Michelin stars will be a big and important step in approaching the world service quality. Therefore, with the Michelin brand that has created a trend, when Michelin comes to Vietnam, it will create a new trend for tourists to Vietnam.
