At the International Innovation Day 2025 celebration on the afternoon of April 21st, the National Innovation Center (NIC) emphasized the crucial role of innovation in economic development.
Dr. Vo Xuan Hoai, Deputy Director of NIC, cited studies from the World Bank, UN, and OECD, showing that innovation contributes up to 95% to the competitiveness of the economy and 91% to the green economy, while also creating breakthrough changes in all fields.
Experience from "Asian tigers" like Taiwan (China) and South Korea shows that investment in technology and innovation is a powerful driver of economic growth. Global innovation hubs such as Silicon Valley, Zhongguancun, and Brainport Eindhoven are testaments to the role of innovation in building technology ecosystems, attracting talent, and creating significant economic value.

Currently, NIC focuses on three main programs: developing the innovation ecosystem, developing human resources, and supporting businesses. Of these, ecosystem development is considered the foundation, encompassing building a network of Vietnamese innovation in 22 countries, organizing networking events, attracting investment, and incubating technology businesses.
NIC places particular emphasis on building a "culture of innovation." Mr. Vo Xuan Hoai affirmed: " Talented human resources, working in an environment of connection, cooperation, and sharing, are key factors for the success of innovation."
Therefore, NIC strives to create an open environment that encourages innovation and promotes knowledge exchange to generate breakthrough solutions.
Innovation is vital for businesses.
Innovation is no longer an option but has become a matter of survival for businesses.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, General Director of CNC Tech Group Joint Stock Company, strongly emphasized this point, stating that any business that does not innovate will eliminate itself from the game.
According to Mr. Kien, pressure from consumers is the biggest driving force behind business innovation. " Today's consumers not only seek quality products but also demand diversity, uniqueness, and environmental friendliness. If businesses fail to meet these demands, they will lose market share ," he analyzed.
This forces businesses to constantly improve their products, services, production processes, and even business models.

However, innovation is not only a weapon for competition but also a remedy to cure the inherent "ills" of Vietnam's manufacturing industry.
Mr. Kien pointed out that many businesses are still facing outdated technology, low labor productivity, and reliance on manual labor. " Innovation will help us modernize production, improve efficiency, and free up labor ," he affirmed.
In particular, Mr. Kien emphasized the role of innovation in promoting sustainable development. " Production not only creates material wealth but also has a significant impact on the environment. Innovation helps us minimize negative impacts, use resources more efficiently, and move towards a green economy ," he said.
To realize these goals, CNC Tech has been focusing on three main pillars: " Firstly, promoting technological innovation and applying the most advanced scientific and technical achievements to production. Secondly, applying intelligent management models to optimize operations and improve product quality. Thirdly, building a wide network of cooperation with leading technology corporations, reputable research organizations, and universities to jointly create new breakthroughs ."
