Vietnam Airlines will operate four flights per week on the Hanoi - Hanoi - Phnom Penh route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using Airbus A321 aircraft.
The new route brings the total number of routes between Vietnam and Cambodia operated by the airline to five, including Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi - Phnom Penh; Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Seam Reap; and a trans-Indochina route connecting Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Vientiane (Laos) - Hanoi - Phnom Penh (Cambodia). The total number of flights between the two countries reaches 86 flights per week.
According to a representative from Vietnam Airlines, thanks to frequent flights and convenient connecting times for passengers from European, American, and Northeast Asian markets, the Vietnam-Cambodia route is very attractive to passengers who want to combine travel between Vietnam and destinations in the region.
Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the flight route connecting Hanoi and Phnom Penh.
Over the past 30 years since opening the route connecting Vietnam and Cambodia, Vietnam Airlines has transported nearly 8.2 million passengers and 28,400 tons of cargo on more than 81,000 flights between the two countries.
Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, assessed that the direct flight route will contribute to increasing connectivity between Vietnam and Cambodia. Besides its role as a geographical bridge and a transit point for passengers and goods, these direct flights also act as "ambassadors" in strongly promoting bilateral relations, helping to further strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
"The company is also constantly improving its competitiveness and service quality, thereby best meeting the needs of customers in both countries," Mr. Tuan shared.
To celebrate the launch of the new route, Vietnam Airlines announced that it will reward its Golden Lotus members with double reward miles for Business Class, Flexible Economy, and Standard Economy passengers on the Hanoi - Phnom Penh route from now until November 30th, and double reward miles for Economy Saver passengers from now until November 2nd.
