On the morning of June 1, SGGPO Newspaper reporter returned to Tan Mai fishing village (Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province) to record the situation of fish farming in cages of households after the mass fish deaths.
Mr. Hoang Van Hang (from Tan Mai fishing village) said that in recent days, the family's carp and carp have died from 400-500kg per day and from the beginning of May until now, about 5 tons of fish have died. Mr. Hang is upset with the information that he and the households overstated the number of dead fish to receive support and compensation.
He said: “Tan Mai fishing village has thousands of fish rafts, dying a few hundred pounds every day. Our households only want the functional sector to support cleaning the water environment, helping the fish to grow healthy."

After decades of raising fish in cages, only once has Tan Mai Paper Factory discharged waste into the environment, causing the fish to die white. They compensate, in addition, Mr. Hang has never received support from the government when the fish died. He suspected that the river's water was heavily polluted due to discharge from certain production facilities and factories, causing mass fish deaths.
As for Mr. Nguyen Khac Khoe, raising 4 cages of carp, half a month ago, the fish suddenly died. Initially 10 fish died and then gradually increased to 400 dead fish per day, one cage of nearly 4 tons of fish died completely, the rest of the cages also died a lot and only a few quintals remained. At this rate, the family collapsed. Mr. Khoe said: "River water smells like soap, causing fish to rub their lips and die."

Mr. Tran Van Thinh, a fish farmer here, is urgent: "I don't understand why there is information that fish die only a few quintals a day, meanwhile, the number of dead fish here is hundreds of tons. few tons, households more than ten tons. Currently, the number of dead fish in his family has reached 14 tons of fish and died in the night, and had to be picked up in the morning to clean the raft.
After the SGGPO Newspaper reported, Mr. Chau Thanh An, Director of the Fisheries Sub-Department of Dong Nai province, invited reporters to survey and only recorded the fish farming situation of 3 households in Tan Mai raft village.
At the survey, the officers of the Dong Nai Fisheries Sub-Department focused on recording the density of fish farming and said that the farmers raised too much, the oxygen content was low, so the fish died. However, the problems reported by households such as abnormally polluted water, strange smell like acid, smell of washing powder have not been clarified. The survey team also showed signs of "dodging" the heavily damaged cages and then providing "damage mitigation" information to the press!
