In early January, the working atmosphere in garden houses in Minh Tan commune (Dong Hung, Thai Binh) is no less bustling than before Tet. People who work the land, people who move trees, people who plant trees, fertilize, water... are all very skilled and quick.
Tens of thousands of peach trees were quickly planted by garden owners in the vacant land where the peach trees had been planted for spring decoration. In Minh Tan, most Tet peaches are sold outright, trees are not rented, so garden owners have to proactively plant seedlings for the new peach crop from the previous year.
Having just had a successful Tet peach season, Mr. Pham Ba Ngan's family in Hoang Duc village is currently busy planting a new peach crop. Because he was proactive in getting seedlings from the previous year, after the Lunar New Year, Mr. Ngan had enough quality seedlings to transfer from the nursery to planting in the new garden with a total of 400 trees on an area of 5 sao.
Mr. Ngan shared: If you want the tree to grow well, you must first treat the soil source because peaches like strange soil, so you must turn the soil, add new soil to the garden, use a milling machine to loosen the soil, make a bed and then place the tree. Seed in rows, fertilize, and cover the roots with soil. Every year my family proactively breeds to save costs and ensure a high survival rate. After planting, when the tree becomes green, graft, bend and prune branches to have a unique shape and position according to your wishes, fertilize and water with the right technique and at the right time.
Planting and caring for peaches is very elaborate, going through many stages, all must ensure correct procedures and techniques because even a mistake in any step will affect the proper development, shape, and blooming. later life of the tree.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thuan, Hoang Duc village, said: Last Tet, his family earned 500 million VND from selling peaches. This new season, the family planted 500 peach trees to sell to people for Tet and about 3.000 seedlings to prepare for the next peach season because peach trees must be planted a year in advance. After planting, cultivate, fertilize, and monitor regularly to promptly spray plants with pesticides. From the time of planting until August, care must be taken periodically. If the soil is dry, you must water it immediately, always keeping the plant moist for growth. In September, stop caring and focus on pruning branches to shape the tree.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Hoang Duc village, who has been growing peaches for more than 10 years, peaches are a tree that cannot tolerate flooding, so they must be planted on high ground, make high beds, loose soil, and create quick drainage ditches. , must be planted in an open place. After planting, water must be watered immediately so that the plant can quickly recover and grow. In September, the bark is ringed and the roots are turned to limit the growth of the tree. In November, the leaves are plucked to help the tree enter the bud stage.
Minh Tan commune is famous for growing ornamental peaches and making products from lucky bamboo. In particular, growing peaches to serve the Tet market has long become a profession that helps many families here get rich, so Minh Tan people, especially in the two villages Hoang Duc and Dinh Phung, have actively converted land. ineffective rice cultivation to peach cultivation. To date, the entire commune has nearly 60 hectares planted with peaches and other ornamental plants.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Hau, Chairman of Minh Tan Commune People's Committee said: To create favorable conditions for farmers to expand peach growing areas, the People's Committee of DVNN Commune organized to clear the flow, ensure irrigation, drainage, and coordination. with related units to provide quality deferred fertilizer for garden owners to care for newly planted trees; Open training classes for farmers on soil preparation techniques, planting, care, prevention, and pest control for peach trees.
Socio-political organizations trust banks to lend money to farmers to invest in planting new peach crops. Focus on doing a good job of information and promotion of Minh Tan's peach trees on social networks as well as other channels to help growers have new consumption channels and increase farmers' income.
Newly planted peach trees on Minh Tan land are being carefully cared for, carrying the people's wishes for a year of favorable weather and a successful new peach crop.
